Race fans, the Short Track Network has a chance to move into the future to start bringing you live racing events to your computer and TV and we want to know your thoughts.

Right now we are toying with the idea but want to know how many of you out there would be interested if you had the ability to watch mainstream racing events such as the WDRL on your computer or TV right from your own home.

The technology is now to the point that we can bring you live racing events right from the track and into your home. Many cable and dish networks now allow you to browse the Internet and watch on-line videos right through your TV, there are also boxes available that will allow you to hook your computer to the TV.

STN is looking to develop a website that you will be able to log into, pay a price and not only watch the live event, but keep track of real-time statistics such as where drivers are, their laps, lap speeds and fastest laps. Ask questions and get real-time answers as the race is running.

We realize that in this day in age gas prices will dictate wither a fan is going to travel any distance to see their favorite driver, we also know that grandstands aren’t filling up like they use to. With your support we can bring Short Track Racing into the future. Just think about this…

This is not just about us making money, this is about keeping a sport everyone loves alive! The money you pay to watch the event On-Line will be split up just like when you pay at the gate or buy your pit pass. Percentages will go to the Track/Promoter, Point fund and Series Promoter. Blackouts by Zip code will be in-affect so we don’t keep the LOCAL fans out of the grandstands. Also, this brings more opportunity and exposure to the Racers, which is what helps in getting sponsors and being seen by many more fans!!

Go to shorttracknetwork.com to place your vote, please vote and give us some feedback so we will have some numbers to base our decision on. Once again STN is trying to bring Grassroots Racing to the Next Level.

Also, if you have an idea you would like to see implemented on a On-Line broadcast, let us know. We are developing this for you!

While this is a good idea with some of the big races were people can not make it to the races.

But with the stand count falling each week, i got a felling this may hurt some tracks/races. If you bring this in to the pitcher you will have some people who will set in front of the computer, and not go out to the track. in return will not give the track money, that will not have the payout for the drivers, and then the track may shut down due to no funds.

I am not saying that is what is going to happan, but could. This could be used in a goodway. I can not make it to "the Big E" but would like to hear up-dates.

They tried a few years ago to show monster trucks LIVE on tv. it worked great but people just started watching it on tv, so they cancled it.

Lap3Forever,

I agree, that's is why we will post a BLACKOUT in local ZIP Codes (people within the zip code won’t be able to sign up for that event) to prevent this from happening. We are trying to reach those that can't travel 100+ miles do to gas prices and such to attend a major race such as the WDRL. I use the WDRL as an example because they have drivers from many states the travel with the series but the fans can't always afford to follow.

Thanks for the feedback, it gives us a chance to address questions such as yours!

The blackout would be an good idea for races with in 100 or so mile area. I say 100 because there are around 6 tracks with in 100 miles from me. the max time is 2-2 1/2 hours.

How much would the races cost? i would olny beable to watch a few a year on here due to my own racing.

We figure that there will be some events that are hard to watch due to racers like you having your own local tracks to race at. I figure that at any one time their will always be Rainouts and other situations that many die-hard racer will have that will allow them to watch the show.

Right now were looking at $15.00 per user, this means you could sign up for a race and have a group of people at your place and watch the race together.

We might come up with a package deal too.

Joe

Thanks Nick, I appreciate it, this could be very big if it works out!
