After giving it some thought, I decided to make my sytem public. If a mod could sticky this, I sure would appreciate it. Here goes...
First of all, only the 18 most recent races from the current season count. So once I got to the 19th race of the year, I started subtracting races. The 6 most recent races are triple-weighted, to help measure their momentum. I also use an alternate point system, which is as follows:
1st 200
2nd 180
3rd 170
4th 160
-5 point drop per position down to 16th recieving 100 points
-3 point drop down through the rest of the field, with 25 points going to anyone finishing 41st or worse (or failing to qualify)
-5 points for leading a lap, 10 for leading the most laps
-10 points for the pole, and 5 for the outside pole
Once I've added up the total points, I divide by 30, since that's how many races are factored in (counting the triple-weights). Then to the final average, points are awarded to the top-5 in the real-life points, going 6-4-3-2-1.
And that's how I do it. It doesn't take as long as you may think, because I don't have to add up all 18 races after every week.
