I decided that I'm going to do something different. For those that don't know, I'm a member of the media, and I get to interview drivers and anybody else I run into, as I wish. IE I've talked to Briad France, Mike Helton, Mike Ford, and others.

This week (Easter to Pheonix), I'm going to leave this topic for people to submit potential fan questions. There is no limit to how many you can submit.

I will then look at all the questions submitted, select the best 20 or so, and run a multiple-choice poll, where everybody gets to choose their favorite questions. The wednesday night before the race, since I start work immediately Thursday Morning, I will talley up the top 10 vote-earning questions (plus any ties within), and randomize those questions.

This will give me a sheet of 10-15 questions, that I will ask to whomever I run into, 1 per person. If I run out of questions, I'll re-randomize them. This makes it so that onlly the best questions get asked, and nobody knows who will get asked what (kinda removes any favoritism from my reporting).

That said, post your potential questions here in this topic. Just keep in mind that just about anybody could answer it, so don't make it specific to one driver. If it is, then i'll adjust the meaning as close to generalization as I can.

for nascar officials. what purpose does the splitter serve that couldn't be done another way, thus decreasing the chance of cutting a competitors tire down? are there any concrete discussions being made to change/eliminate the splitter? yeah, it's a two part question.

for Rusty Wallace...Why doesn't he fire Stevens ass and get a driver that can finish a race with four fenders on the car. It would be a lot cheaper.

I would like to hear what both drivers and Nascar think about running less races a year. Maybe 25 races with the last 5 being the chase, or get rid of the chase all together.
As they say absense makes the heart grow fonder. It could help fill the stands. If the super bowl was played 36 times a year it would no longer be a big deal.
The other side of that would be exposure for sponsers, less races less TV time for their products, which of course means less money.
And we all know money is what drives this sport in todays world.
So I guess what I'm asking both drivers and Nascar is do they want to fill the stands and get TV ratings up or do they want bank accounts without a restrictor plate?

I would love to know why so much emphasis is placed on wins during the first twenty six races and yet no value is given for consistency. For example, one person could finish in second place in all twenty six races and be leading by a ton of points but may end up 12th with no wins when the points are reset.

Ask Jimmie if it hurts driving with a golden horseshoe stuck up his ass or if he's gotten used to the feeling after four years.

Question for nascar. I know that with the track commitments they have there's no chance they would add more road courses to the schedules. I know several of the oval tracks also have a road course layout within their tracks. How about nascar run the road course on the tracks that have one on one of the 2 racing dates those tracks have or how about racing some oval tracks right instead of left?

Heck yes... The Brickyard. :beerbang:

OK, right now I have Regan Smith for sure, Robert Richardson Jr. more than likely, I'm trying to get Brendan Gaughan, Scott Riggs, Marcos Ambrose, Kevin Conway, and some others. Safe to say, my phone will be busy tomorrow calling people.

Questions so far-

1. "Do you believe that the splitter on the Cup Cars could be re-designed to reduce the number of tires that get cut by it when cars make contact, and do you know if any drivers have voiced their opinion of the tire-cutting problem?"

2. "What is your opinion of shortening the schedule, to make a better balance of track lengths, and give teams and drivers more offtime? It is often said that absense makes the heart grow fonder, do you believe that a shorter schedule would fill more seats?

3. "With the way that the cup points are re-set affter richmond, why are wins given so much credit, and consistency is nearly worthless? Example, You could get a top 5 all 26 races but end up 12th after the reset."

4. "Kevin Harvick said that the 48 cup team has a magic horseshoe. What do you think it isthat makes them so dominating, and with the "Have at it" rule, why do you believe that nobody has tried to bring him down a little to give other guys a chance?

5. "There are alot of fans out there that wish NASCAR ran more road courses. Of course the schedule is already packed with agreements that form the 38 race schedule. Do you think that NASCAR could consider using the infield road courses at tracks it already goes to, example Daytona, Homestead, Pheonix, Auto Club Speedway Fontana, et cetra?"

How about. If you had the choice to give up a points race like" say Bristol "or an exhibition race like "say the All Star Race", which would you prefer to lose?

I wouldn't ask this, or at the least, word it differently. Drivers don't want to sit there and talk about intentionally wrecking another driver (unless it's a Hamlin/Kez sort of deal).

36 races, not 38.

ok, you rephrase it for me then. I'm not being PC.

And I include non points races. 38 races in 52 weeks is a f***ing lot of races.

I'm not saying, "don't be PC." I'm saying, "Don't ask another driver if they think they should go intentionally wreck another driver". It's a stupid question, and it wouldn't draw a very friendly response from many drivers.

happy?
