Even though I've been done for the year for about a month now, I flipped over to the race for a second, and see the on lap 4. Nascar wants to champion safety lately, but they keep starting these races later and later. Especially this time of year, when the sun is that low in the sky that early, starting late in the afternoon is anything but safe. Visibility has be down to almost nothing for these guys.

Cool, you tuned in just long enough to find something to complain about. ;)
Our local dirt track starts racing at 7 PM on friday night, so that by the time the Trophy Dashes start, the setting sun is right in the driver's eyes going into turn 3.

Depending on the location of the track, the positioning, etc., that's not uncommon. However, Friday and Saturday night racing, it's pretty unavoidable. They certainly can't wait until the sun goes down to start racing, especially mid-summer. My complaint is toward Nascar for starting these races later and late. And I'm certainly not the only one critical of this new practice. Even Nascar's favorite son has been vocal about the problem. Traditionally, Sunday afternoon races had started around 1:00 PM or so.

And as far as only finding a couple minutes to complain about something, it certainly isn't hard to do this year.

Our local owner says if he starts before the sun goes down the track won't be any good. That is why you are there till well after midnight. LOL

would this be bruton or ISC? Because i bet the GM at richmod could pull that excuse off easy. I do believe it is still the only track that has all it's major events at the dark (counting nascar, irl, ect)

Of course. Having the season finale finish in prime time is desirable for sponsors, the network, and NASCAR. If it wasn't for TV NASCAR would still be small potatos in the sports market.

I was talking LOCAL DIRT TRACK.

Well you can bet if ESPN or one of the Networks was televising those races they would set the time for them. Just look at how college football and basketball are handled. Their entire season revolves around the TV schedule. But, then those who have the money make the rules and that's nothing new.

The college teams even take TV time outs. It's a wonder they don't have TV cautions. Oh yeah they did a few years ago but Tony got them out of that. LOL
