ARLINGTON- The closer the city gets to hosting the Super Bowl, the more expensive parking spaces around the stadium have become.

Some parking lots across from Cowboys Stadium sold out at $500 to $550 a spot.

The owner says he has a few spots in that same lot, but they are listed on the internet for $990 each starting Wednesday.

Hank Wendorf owns the parking lot and is also a ticket broker. He says the cost of seats is also soaring.

"It's about 26 to 27 hundred dollars right now to get into the game for an upper level seat," said Hank Wendorf.

Wendorf says the market has driven up ticket prices 20 to 30 percent in the last week alone.

Center Point Church, located 1.2 miles down Collins street, has canceled Sunday services due to increased traffic expectation. The church will subsidised missed tithes by selling parking spots for $82.50.

The biggest parking bargain is still right across from the stadium.

"We say ‘Free parking with a customer purchase’," said Pam Dawson, Lincoln Square Center Manager.

Business at Lincoln Square Shopping Center will give customers a space for a $75 purchase at any business located inside the center. Make the purchase, leave the receipt in the day and the parking is free. The center uses the same deal during the regular season, except you only had to spend $40 to park for free.

"We raised it because merchants expected that," Dawson said. "It is the Super Bowl."

The idea is to generate business for Arlington merchants who survived lean times and finally made it to the Super Bowl.

It's supposed to be "leave the receipt on the dashboard".

The wrecker drivers aren't supposed to tow you off if you leave the receipt on the dash.

Bet we hear of irate car owners who followed the rules yet their cars still got towed.

Would I like to attend a Super Bowl? He77 yes. But you're not going to see this chea,,I mean frugal Yankee paying that much for parking let alone the estimated $2500 for a ticket.:D

I live 10 mins from the stadium and will be watching from home on my 52" tv very happily after hearing those prices.

A little Jerry Jones tidbit. His lower employees there aren't allowed to even say HI to him or speak to him at all.

10 minutes away? Your missing a golden opportunity to lease some of those $100+ parking places. Heck, slide that big screen out on the front porch and offer some party passes for $200+ and maybe they'll count your party in on those attendance figures? :beerbang:

Been thinking of putting some chair out on the deck. They can see the big screen thru the windows.:D

It just keeps going up.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Packers and Steelers fans were set to pay a high price for their team's success Monday as Arlington businesses sought to cash in on the city's hosting rights to Super Bowl XLV in February.

Parking lots close to Cowboys Stadium were demanding almost $1,000 for prime spots, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported, while many hotels looked to charge four times their usual room rates around the Feb. 6 event.

At an eye-watering $990, ParkWhiz priced a reserved place in its lot at more than $850 above the stadium's official parking fee, aimed at fans reluctant to take a pre-game stroll.

"Official stadium parking is over a mile away," the site said, adding that a "parking pass through ParkWhiz" would take fans "closer to the action."

But it was not alone in attempting to make a heavy return on the arrival of thousands for the NFL's showcase event. Rooms in a number of hotels close to the stadium were going for close to $500 dollars around game day, way beyond their usual price of around $75 to $150.

Those hoping for entry into Cowboys Stadium faced far higher prices, though, with ticket websites offering the cheapest seats at more than $2,600 and premium views at almost $16,000.
