Never. This test/development/reserve role is a joke. Lotus just signed Carmen Jorda, who hasn't even managed to score a single point in three years of GP3, to the same role. In the case they actually do need a reserve driver they usually look outside the organization, as Lotus did with Kovalainen in 2013.
