Talk it up...
Rusty is such an idiot and though I don't care for him, if he's going to stay in the booth, I hope he gets more counceling about what he's doing.
But please, those guys are probably as bored as we are. Tiger is now 7 shots in front. With that lead, you'd think the golf is boring as well, but it isn't.
Cleveland beat Cinci! G-Men went down hard to the Pack. Houston put a whoopin' on the Panthers. Some shockers there in the NFL.
Goooo Bears! and Kahne. <--gotta keep it NASCAR.
ABC & ESPN help stink up the joint!
Did you say they stunk it up with a joint?
Maybe if they had a joint they could call it better. LOL. J/K
Let's see 41 goes into a slide and they cut away, then jerry says elloitt is in the 21 then corrects himself then he says kenny is subbing for elliott which kenny was the original driver for the 21, kenny has been put back in that car.
My opinion is that it is the slower, less driveable COT that is mostly to blame for the ho-hum racing.
I know many of us tend to find fault with ESPN and justafiably so as they harp on the same thing over and over - kind of like us
But, it seems as though the races have calmed down quite a bit. I mean even the short track races seem pretty boring.
Maybe it's the COT, maybe it's the drivers not wanting to chance fines/probation, I'm not sure but, the last bunch of races - with the excpetion of the show #24/#20/#8 put on a bit ago - nothing much has been happening.
Now I don't mean just in terms of wrecking one another but good hard racing. Of course maybe it's happening and it's just not shown.

Yep, I totally agree.Patrick, I was just thinking the same thing. When you think that what has been the most anticipated race of the season only drew a yawn from most of us, then one has to think about what is going on.
I believe it's a combination of all of the changes, from the Chase to the COT to NASCAR trying to diversify the sport and make it an international sport. I read the other day where Brian France is concentrating on the Hispanic area to increase the viewership. The idea of losing so many loyal older fans doesn't phase him in the least. We can get into that in another thread, but for sure, these races have become more and more boring from a fan's view.
Yep, I totally agree.
And, a comment on the Chase. In the "old" system those drivers behind the leader would go all out in every race trying to narrow the point spread. Nowadays, the drivers in the top 12 simply want to stay in the top 12 with no real incentive to catch the leader.

Gamble , yes. Wonder how loyal those they are pursuing will be. I talked with some "framers" when they were building a porch for me here in Greensboro, a hotbed of the old loyal fans. They were the type guys that know everything about UNC sports and Nascar. There was no question they are getting fed up with the way things are headed. Some very good comments on this. I say congrats to all as it seems that we are mostly in agreement with the problems. Whiz, what a great comment. I whole heartedly agree with everything that you wrote. Great racing is good, but if the event doesn't make you sit on the front of your seat, where's the excitement?
As for the reason NASCAR is hawking all of this to hispanics, the answer is southern Florida and of course, California. It seems that NASCAR has more or less put the idea of gaining the African-American fan base on the back burner and now are concentrating on the hispanics. What ever...but I'm hearing more and more loyal old timers getting fed up with the sport. I'm sure that the main offices of NASCAR is also hearing this, but they are weighing all options and the bottom dollar will ultimately be the bottom dollar. They know that the big money comes from the older loyal set, but if they can gain more than they lose, they will come out ahead. How big of a gamble is this?
