As much as I like Terry, it's time to retire. Same with Elliott, Cope, etc.

Stavola Labonte Racing announce 2010 plans: Veteran NASCAR team owner Bill Stavola is back on the racing scene, joining with two-time Sprint Cup Series Champion Terry Labonte to form Stavola Labonte Racing. The duo have partnered with award-winning sports marketing and sponsorship professional Bill Henneberry who will oversee their sales and marketing efforts. Stavola Labonte Racing makes its 2010 debut in the #10 Gander Mountain Chevy on Sept. 11 in Richmond, followed by Oct. 16 in Charlotte and finishing strong on Nov. 7 at Labonte's home track in Texas. An expanded 2011 season will be announced soon.
Gander Mountain will serve as the primary sponsor for all three races, with American Cement serving as associate sponsor. Stavola, who managed teams with Rookies of the Year Dick Trickle and Jeff Burton and veteran drivers such as Bobby Allison, will serve as the team's Chief Executive Officer after nearly a decade out of the sport. Stavola and Labonte will back their decades of experience and history of winning with the right combination of technology and equipment provided through their partnership with Richard Childress Racing and Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines, who will supply RCR-built Chevrolet Impala race cars and ECR-built Chevrolet power plants.(Stavola Labonte Racing), see an image of the car on my #10 Team Schemes page.(8-12-2010)

I like the finishing strong on Nov 7 part.A strong 30 to 35th probably.
Yeah, thats some real "Pie in the sky" sh*t if I ever did read any.......
Maybe Ward Burton can run the companion races in the Nationwide series:XXROFL::XXROFL:

Its time for a Legends series. This time all of the cars can have their left turn signal on during the race.

Terry really hasnt been competitive for years. 2004 or 05 he seemed like he could have a comeback and he won at Darlington. But since that season I dont think he has even finished a race on the lead lap.

I like Terry and he's a good guy but he needs to hang it up already. This will no doubt be a S&P team that's just using him for his Past Champion Provisional.

Hang on...I thought Terry retired for good.... I could have sworn he did...

While I tend to fully agree with Bobby Ford and some others, I see another possible side to this which isn't all bad... Tell me if this isn't a possibility:

(a) Stavola has knowledge of hands-on race team ownership and genuinely loves the sport, as evidenced by the Stavola brothers' past record.

(b) With less than 30 cars on the potential team roster next season who can run consistently for a top 20 spot, NA__AR is in dire need of new, albeit veteran blood.

(c) Terry is an experienced driver who, looking at thing for next season, has a good chance of having a good Champion's Provisional. (I dislike the CP but it's there

(d) Stavola has been mostly a GM team (Buick and Chevrolet, except for a couple years when they ran Fords), so they'll probably sign on as a Hendrick operation, and if so they'll probably have pretty good equipment. Yeah, it'll in effect give HMS its seventh team but that's another kettle of carp.

So, Stavola enters the #10 full time and Terry is pretty much guaranteed a starting spot in the first six races and has the talent to probably get the car in the Chosen 35. After the sixth race, Terry [finally] goes into retirement and some pretty good driver who needs a seat (Vickers? Stremme? Sorenson? There's a lot of them just waiting for a seat) steps into a Chosen 35 spot and the world keeps revolving, and NA__AR has a new team which isn't a S&P'er, which it doesn't need.

Sound feasible?

He's gonna have to rassle his brother for the Past Champions spot.

Hire Jarrett and Elliott and they could run 12 races a piece.

Said they going with RCR equipment and ECR engines.

Bill's got one Hell of a lot of catching up to do. There's been an awful lot of change in NASCAR in the last ten years.

Yeah, assuming Ambrose stays in the top 35 this year.
Ambrose will not be driving the #47 next year. Where he goes, if he goes somewhere in the Cup series, will not affect where he starts. It is the owner's points that direct that.

So okay, we all know now that Kahne will be driving for Red Bull next year. Seems like everyone is thinking that he will be piloting the #83. I've not heard from Red Bull where Kahne will be stationed, but the thinking is that since Brian Vickers is sitting out for the rest of the season, his seat is open for next year. Maybe, maybe not. Red Bull only has two teams and could deploy two more teams. Depending on the money, and who knows about that right now, Kasey could be in a new car with a new number. So, looking at it from that angle, what would be the best strategy for Red Bull? If the #83 is within that top 35 at the end of the season, AND providing that Brian is able to return to driving, would it be prudent or proper for Red Bull to put Kahne in the #83 assuring him of a race, or knowing his past performance, giving the # back to Vickers, or who ever else might grace that seat the spot? I've yet to see where Kahne will be filling that #83 seat so who knows?

kahne is good enough to qualify for races without needing to be in the top #35, provided he has good equipment, avoids crashing during qualifying, etc... IF vickers comes back next year he should get the #83.
