ARDEN, N.C. -- Tim Sauter will be the latest member of the Wisconsin stock car racing family to make a connection with veteran NASCAR owner/driver Dave Marcis when Sauter attempts his Winston Cup debut this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. Sauter, 37, a NASCAR Busch Series regular, will drive Marcis' No. 71 Marcis Auto Racing Chevrolet while Marcis' nephew Rob Marcis serves as crew chief.
There are 48 entries for 43 starting positions in Saturday night's $4,598,287 Sharpie 500, the 24th of 36 Winston Cup races this season.
Earlier this season, Marcis fielded cars for family patriarch Jim Sauter at the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and for Tim's older brother Jay, who also races in the Busch Series. Jay Sauter made his Winston Cup debut at Texas Motor Speedway in April and finished 37th.
