Tabasco - The Shield

You got me turned on to it last season. I only caught the last show, but I was hooked. I really don't like cop shows that much, but I'll go to the point of taping it if I can't watch it.

The Shield, 24, and CSI are about the only shows that I'll watch.
 
I don't even watch CSI or 24, Julie does though.

The Shield is just awesome.
 
I flipped through once, caught part of an episode. I had a hard time telling who were the good guys and who were the bad. Is it always that hard edged?
 
Yes!

That's the beauty of it, there's a very thin line between who are the good and bad guys.

And all the cops are pretty much leading double lives, and hide each one from everyone else...hence the "Shield". :leap:
 
I'm sure it does...but I wouldn't be worth my salt as an English major if I didn't try to find the poetic duality involved with the show's title. ;)
 
It's not too late. Start taking a few classes, here and there. You'll be done in no time. That's what I did. It took awhile but got a degree in Eng. Lit. and a Master's in fine arts. I can't get a job in either field, but at least I'm well read.
 
Ain't that the truth!

I was majoring in English & Secondary Education. Master's in those fields are a dime a dozen, and the thought of doing a PhD in English was just far too daunting.
 
True, look at the bright side, though. When reading news stories on the internet, you can mentally correct the grammer and spelling.:p

And I can talk about TS Elliot with...uhm....with...well....no one!
 
Paul, this season is better than the first. It is the best show on tv. It keeps getting better each week. It would be hard to pick the worst show they have had. They are all good.
 
You got it, I am blown away each week...the plot just gets better and better. Another thing I've noticed is that they have very few commercials. Tuesday nights are quickly becoming my favorite.
 
Tue. I watch JAG, The Guardian, and The Shield. FX has a few more shows in the works starting this winter. I wonder how they will compare?
 
I don't remember, but I saw the commercial last night during the show. The Shield is about the only thing I watch FX. They made a good movie last year or the year before about the campus bookie. Did you see that? FX gives the writers a lot of freedom.
 
I did watch that one..."Confessions of a bookie" or something like that...it was very well done.

So who do you think is going to take the fall in this latest controversey on the Shield? I think his partner is going to...the one that was fighting and threatened to quit.
 
I dunno man, he's pretty deep! And it's only the third episode!!

But I think you're right, he's a master.
 
season 6

will there ever be a season 6 with the reruns moving to spike?
 
How far back did you have to go to get this thread? :) I am sure they have at least one more year left in the show.
