Talk About First To Worst

Among the many accomplishments that have occurred at Darlington, the least known fact is who recorded the worst finishing position in the history of the top NASCAR series. On September 3, 1951, in front of 40,000 race fans, Frank Mundy drove his '51 Studebaker to an 82nd place finish, earning $0.00 for his efforts. Frank completed only 12 of the 400 scheduled laps before retiring with oil problems. Herb Thomas would go on to win the event by more than one lap over Jesse James Taylor, but Frank Mundy would set a record that will most likely never be touched. Frank's 82nd place finish is even more remarkable since he won the pole position for the event with the fast lap of 84.173 mph. (ERaceFans.com)

I wonder how a suped up Studabaker would handle the tracks now...
