Why are the small stickers plastered on the front fenders of the race cars?
Who pays for this and how much?
Who receives the money?
Are they REQUIRED by nascar?
Does anyone leave some or all off?

Good story, I didn't know some of the stuff mentioned. I remember the Penske cars had almost no decals when they first started and I thought it was to make the car look better (which it did); I wasn't aware of sponsor conflicts.

I alway loved the contingency stickers, and believed they made em look more race cars.

Richard Petty never ran a car with alcohol related stickers on it or his Mom would have killed him. Way back when Michael Waltrip piloted the #30 Bahari Racing Pennzoil Pontiac and it had very few if any stickers on it at first. Then shortly afterward it had all the stickers present.
