I was certainly glad to see Tony, Joey and Ryan in the top five. I gotta be honest with everybody though, It isn't over until the Fat Lady Sings... The Fat Lady in Black that is!

I was there last year and had a great time. That is a track that I hold dear to my heart.

Good googley moogley, Max Papis is faster then K Harvick and Junior.

What has crawled up Juniors tail end and died, for he STINKS!!!

Practice speeds are completely irrelevant at Talledaga. When the race starts and 43 cars are in the big pack there will be guys coming and going the whole 500 miles. Talledga is to unpredictable, one of the only tracks (with daytona) drivers like Paul Menard are as much of a threat that as drivers like Carl Edwards.

Junior fan here, still has not accounted for the dismal start to 2009. Thought last year was a learning year at Hendick, and would come out on top this year, but there is no energy in the AMP energy car, and folks are questioning him. He has been through some turmoil since Sr. died, but now it is time to Put up and show up.

WOO, most of that post did not make any sense, time to take this hard working man self to bed, and get up and do it again.

Race set ups and qual set ups. The go or go home boys have qual and the rest have race set ups. They are in and ready to race. I hate impound races. I would like to see them have at least one practice after qual.

Yep, most of them are in race set up not qualifying. I don't "get" the purpose of the impound races other than just being a pain. It's especially bad for those in qualifying trim since when they get out on the track, they really need to take care of their cars or blow up. In that respect, what's the point of qualifying well when you'll have to baby your car until you can pit and everyone else will probably pass you by. Sure, you might get a better pit box, but we all know how those don't help if you're too far behind the leaders.

The whole object of "impound" racing is to save money. Please do not ask me how this is suppose to work, because I do not have a clue, but Nascar got this idea up their tails that if you make cars runs the exact same set up for both qualifying and the race, it is going to save money. Now back in the days where you had sepcial qualifying engines that were used for qualifying only, I could understand that, but that has been gone for a long time now. The "go or go homers" are at a huge disadvantage because they have to start with a qualifying set up while the rest of the field starts with their race set up. If anything, I would think that it would cost the "go or go homers" money, not save them any.

The reason they save money is in oils and greases. Teams guarenteed in will not risk a engine or gear failure and use less or the lighter stuff to qualify since it can no longer be changed out. That's part of why you get those outside the top 35 up front, that's of course until they blow up or have to hit pit road/garage to fix it to be able to race.

You're in the wrong thread. This is about practice speeds at Talladega. Jr. looks pretty good in ractice and there appears to be plenty of "Energy' in his car.
