Talladega May Make or Break Earnhardt Jr's Season

Jr. has been the most consistant driver in NASCAR so far this season, yet he doesn't have a win. If he doesn't win at Talladega, he very well could lose momentum and confidence this season. I lay it all out here.

One race will not make or break anyone and this is even more true now with the chase . All you have to be is in the top 12 and anything can happen .

My point is that, eventually, not winning is going to get to him and that is going to affect the way that he drives. Why do you think that so many athletes have sports shrinks?

I still don't buy it. If he was running mid-pack like he did at DEI Maybe but not the way he has been running this year. He is pumped.

I reject your premise, i dont believe the vast majority of athletes have sports shrinks and i think the number in racing is smaller then most sports . In this generation of Dr Phils and Stuart Smalleys i believe most drivers are intelliigent enough and well adjusted enough to grasp that they will have dry spells .

Junior also has the benifit of growing up in the sport and seeing the best drivers including his father go through droughts . I am sure Junior is grounded enough to understand if he keeps finishing up front the wins will come . This year has got to be less frustrating then last when Juniors cars were either junk or blew up when they were competitive .

If all else fails he could always try the old pro baseball players fix for just such a situation and go out and get drunk and find him self a slump buster.

Yea but Jr can only win on Plate tracks. So what is hendrick going to do with him?

This is the exact reason that a win at Talladega will do absolutely nothing for him.
If he doesn't win, basketcase will say it's the end. If he does win, everyone like the RCR fan here will say it's only a plate track.

Fact is, to some people, he can't win either way

BTW, RCR fan
Texas, Dover, Richmond, Pheonix etc. 17 wins total.
Harvick? 11.

6 more wins with 2 more years or racing...

What does that make Jimmie Johnson with twice the number of wins and 2 freaking championships in 3 less years...

And, yet ignorant people want to talk about how Jimmie ran out of talent all the while bowing to Lil'E. And I'm asked why I don't care to be around Lil'E fans...

Okay, how about Jeff Burton?
3 more wins with 7 more years than Jr in the series.
I mean if you can use that argument for Harvick, can't it be used against Burton? Does this put Jr in the same class as Burton?
IMO, no. Not yet.
My point wasn't to sing the praises of how great a driver Jr is, because he's not.
Yet.

I was merely pointing out that he's won on more than just superspeedways, as most of his critics on here claim he hasn't, and he's won more than Harvick and almost as much as Burton. (For the RCR fan.)

No Burton was stuck with Roush so he don't count. And besides, he has won races in the last two seasons. What has JR done?
