So we are looking at 46 cars for a 43 car field. 46 cars that include the likes of start and park Joe Nemechek, Geoff Bodine, and Michael McDowell. Not a lot of entries, are there?

Yeah and i just heard the #64 of Geoff Bodine has just withdrawn from the race so thats only 45 cars now. Shame cause usualy you see 50+ trying to qualify for dega.

I have a feeling there's going to be a short field at the coke 600. That, or there's going to be a good 7 or 8 parkers before halfway.......there's not such thing as a leased 600 mile engine, that these small teams can afford. plus 200+ miles of practice...

Start em all and let em share a pit or make two exter pits. Kind of stupid to send 2 cars home. Just start em all. Or if two are going to start and park, then they dont need a pit box. just roll out and run a few laps then park it.

I support this idea.

Cut the number of starters from 43 down to 40 and get rid of the Top 35 in points automatically qualifying. Make qualifying equal for every team, Top 35 or not. Cut the prize money substantialy for cars finishing outside the Top 35, and get rid of points for any car that finishes outside the Top 35. That will get rid of these start and parkers in a hurry. If you do not make it profitable for them to run, they will not run. Give the guys who want to seriously compete a chance to do so.

Do all that and fewer cars show up -- and NASCAR and the tracks make less money.

You do realize NASCAR is a business, don't you?

I agree with no more top 35 rule. But not the rest. I have no problem with start and parkers. I think you should get points even if you don't make the race. Say "ten" at least they are trying to get out and put on a show when moneys tight.
