Team or Driver?

Most everyone here has a favorite driver........a fan, if you will. If your driver left the team he drives for would you still be a fan of his? Or would you stick with the team your "former" favorite drove for? Say your favorite driver is Matt Kenseth and he decides (or is inticed) to quit driving for Jack Roush and move to Ray Evernham and drive the 19 car. Would you ditch Matt and pick another driver in the Roush impire (or, at least, a team that runs Fords)? :)
 
I'd stay with my driver (Jeff Gordon) wouldn't matter to me who he drove for......:D
 
Kinda depends I guess. If you are a fan of the driver you will stick with the driver. Thats why I try to ignore the owner and car make of my driver.
 
I already knew where you stood mustang!!:) It's hard being a closet Harvick fan!!:D

I wouldn't care if Jr drove the BAM car, I'd still root for him...
 
I don't know why but it would seem post Aussie fans follow teams before drivers, so really this question would be easy to answer. Unfortunately I can't comment much on NASCAR...but with the V8 Supercar teams...you either follow Ford or Holden...not a driver! And if a driver left from either Ford to Holden (or other way around) you tend to look at him right away as a defector and your enemy...lol...

I'm a team person...I stick by my footy team no matter what...same goes for my other teams...Ferrari, HRT, Kool Green etc.... If you happen to be lucky enough to get drivers like schumi, Mark Skaife, Tracey...it's a bonus :D
 
Tricky post Wrangler!I am a brand loyal fan-but I stick by my favorite driver pretty good,too.

I guess if the unthinkable happened and my driver DID become corrupted by the darker brands I would still cheer for him.Just not as loud as I used too!:rolleyes:
 
I go by driver first, then eliminate him if he wears a bowtie. I'm a lifelong Ford fan pulling for a Mopar, which wounds me deep in my soul. I've never pulled for a Chevy, and don't see where THAT'S gonna get changed. If Ward puts on a bowtie, I'll drop him like a hot tater. End of story. If someone in a Ford really grabs my attention, I'm back home, but still would pull for Ward as well. It all depends I guess.
 
I would pull for Mark if he went to another team,But I would not root for some drivers if they came to Roush.:)
 
If johnny left the MBV team i would rot for JB still. I would alos keep an eye on teh #10 with who ever the new driver was.
 
DEW, I've posed this question before with my friends and of course, most people (NASCAR, sorry Tiger) stick with their driver. The exceptions are those people who have something connected with the team, whether it is a sponsor, relative or what, but when they change drivers, they go with the new one. It's like our local scene. I've got a friend who owns two modified cars and I will root for those cars, not necessarily for the drivers.
 
OK, my take. I would stay with my driver. But, that's not to say I would necessarily be enthusiastic about my driver going with a team that I happen to not care much for. On the other side of the coin, a team I happen to like takes on a driver that I don't.........I wouldn't ditch my team because if it.
 
I've been a Michael Waltrip fan for too long to care what team he drives for. Bahari Racing, Wood Brother Racing, the #7 team owned by what's his face, DEI, it doesn't matter. Unless he went to the Bamma-lamma-ding-dong Dodge. Then I would begin to seriously question his sanity. hehe.
 
I knew somebody was going to say that eventually. lol. That's okay, despite his big hair and his Napa commercials, I still pull for Michael. :p
 
Ol Mikey has been pretty quick during the Daytona tests this week..
 
Ummm gee i wonder why could it be because he drives a DEI car? I'd pull for my guy Bill even if he went to .....cringes...a chevy!
 
What a great thread! This is a hard one to answer, I like first and foremost TONY "THE MAN" STEWART. But I also like Sterlin Marlin, yeah I know, what a weird mix. :) I have followed Tony for 6 years now and nothing will change that. But Marlin on the other hand... I think I would still follow the Silver Bullet if Marlin wasn't diving (like this year I had to pull for Jamie McMurray). Unless of course something crazy happened and Rusty ended up driving it! OH NO! LOL But I also think if Marlin went with a different car/sponser I would still follow him, because I like his personality, not so much that he's a great driver or anything.

Well i guess that not too many people have probably been cheering for their favorite driver as long as i have. I started rooting for Bill Elliot back in 1983, that's 20 years folks, i haven't had any other favorite. When he retires i'll still consider him my favorite. I do like other drivers, and dislike others also, but loyalty to 1 i consider foremost all the time. When Dale was racing i used to love to hate him( even though i repected him dearly and cried when he won Daytona) ,would wish all kinds of bad luck on him. Now i don't have an arch enemy, although Kurt Busch and Roby Gordon start coming to mind lately!!:p
 
I've stuck with my driver for 10 years now, he has raced for Wood Brothers, Gibbs and Yates since he started in Cup and I root for all three of those teams. I even tried to be a Tony Stewart fan since Gibbs hired him but he ruined that for me, thank goodness it was not Yates that hired him! So I guess you could say that I am driver and team loyal. Since Robert brought Davey into Cup I have always supported the Yates teams!

I'd stick with Ward no matter where he went. But it just wouldn't look right for someone else driving the CAT:(
 
I have to admit..........if Jr deserted to Ganassi, I would be torn!! But, Jr being family and all........that's not likely!!:D

Heaven help me if Tony went that way though!!:(
