Teams and Championship race

In thinking about the way the championship race could play out, it leaves me wondering how drivers from the same teams will behave towards one another.

Eg: If J.Gordon can clinch the cup by winning a particular race, but Johnson has an outside chance if Gordon doesn't, will Johnson "help" Kenseth or DEJr?

Will Stewart race Labonte as hard as he would Sadler to keep either of them from clinching?

It seems to me that NOT having a team mate in the chase might just be an advantage. We all know what Waltrip/Wallace/Martin will do if they're not in the top 10.

And, to make it even more interesting, Harvick AND R.Gordon need to be in there... two team mates who race each other hard no matter what.

We may just get see some teeth from some of those drivers who normally don't show any.

It doesn't really matter cuz when they go to the final "Chase" they'll only be 5 points apart.

Hmmmmmm.........seems the plot may thicken a little later in the season! :D But you know what I really think? I think teams and team mates will compete every bit as hard against each other as they would against non team mates. Regardless of what others may think, I cannot believe that a driver will sacrifice a Championship for a team mate..........they may do so for a team mate to win a race. But, only if that team mate is not challenging them for a position that would jeopardize a Championship run. In other words, if the driver is not threatening to take the lead away from them......the real goal is the title! Jeff and Jimmy will race each other just like Jeff or Jimmy will race Jr. If it's an advantage to help another (say Matt) to prevent the other from overtaking whoever is in the lead then they will probably do it........just as either would do if it were Jr threatening to take the lead. That's the way the game is played. That is what makes it exciting..........and the winner will win fair and square. :D

I don't see the "chase" changing how the dirvers would react. They'll react the same as they would have in the past.

The difference will be that there will be more drivers within striking distance of the championship.
