In an article of the news or some other video's from news source or you tube, I get the audio but the rest is a green screen, no vidoe when there is suppose to be a video?

Any ideas out there?

Not me I'm a tech disaster waiting to happen.

Without knowing what type of device, operating system, web browser etc. you're using, the 1st guess I can make is that "hardware Acceleration" may be the cause so I'd try disabling it.

Question: Can you view Netflix without trouble?

@KyBuownsyourbrain Dell with core15 MS Office 2007

No can not play a Netflix film, use to be able to, not now.
Also, say, one of the folks here at the forum put a you tube video up, I can play it, but at the end when other video's are available and I click on one of them I get the sound and a green screen.

Well, you need to make sure the system is up-to-date with both Windows and the Dell site because if it's an outdated driver, there's likely no fix that will work.

What version of Windows are you using?

Don't forget to try disabling hardware acceleration. It's only takes 2 clicks so not exactly a time waster :)

Hardware acceleration and/or video (graphics) drivers. They tend to go hand in hand. Update drivers then see if it works. if not, toggle HW acceleration.

:dunce: Where do I find "hardware acceleration" ?

Funny you mention that, I did and they told me to call you, go figure. :idunno:

That just proves I know as much, or less, than you about technical stuff. I am completely computer illiterate once it gets past the off/ on switch.

Update your browser to the latest and greatest. Then go into your add-ons and update those. To get there, look for the "options" section of your browser. In firefox it is the three horizontal lines in the top right. In internet explorer it is the little gear looking thing also in the top right. I.E. calls it "internet options".

If updating the browser and ad-ons, does not work, try looking at the hardware acceleration.

You can find hardware acceleration in about the same place, "options". Look for the "Advanced" tab and there will be an option to use hardware acceleration. Make sure hardware acceleration is off or unchecked.

If these don't work, come back and let us know more details about your computer system.

If it has not already been mentioned, try opening up using Chrome. That's helped me when
video issues arise and I am a 3 out of 10 on the tech meter . Messing with "settings " always
digs my hole deeper.

  1. Windows 10
  2. Open Device Manager

  3. Expand ‘Display Adapter’.

  4. Locate the
    display driver.

  5. Right-click on the display card listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’

Get a video playing and right click on the screen. There should be an option to disable hardware acceleration by unchecking it.
