"Texas Terry” Labonte Honored in Hometown Celebration: Tonight, “Texas Terry” is being honored in his hometown of Corpus Christi by the Corpus Christi Hooks, the AA affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Houston Astros. It is “Terry Labonte Night” at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi. The Hooks host the Midland RockHounds in Game Two of the best-of-five Texas League Divisional Playoffs. Labonte will throw out the first pitch for tonight’s game. ...Texas Motor Speedway is helping share in the special celebration tonight in Corpus Christi. The official Chevrolet show car of “The Great American Speedway!” is on display for fans attending the game. In addition, Texas Motor Speedway and Labonte are helping South Texas Chevrolet dealers kick off a special promotion that will provide 11 trips for two to Texas Motor Speedway for fans to watch Terry compete in his final NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on November 5 in the Dickies 500. This evening, Labonte is a special guest of Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, who owns the Corpus Christi Hooks. Labonte will meet the famous flamethrower in his suite. Ryan tossed out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Tuesday night’s game. Labonte will watch the Hooks take batting practice and then meet the players and manager Dave Clark in the clubhouse. A Corvette will bring Labonte in from the outfield to throw out the first pitch during the pre-game ceremony in front of an expected capacity crowd in excess of 7,000. The Hooks can take a commanding two-game-to-none lead this evening with a win after winning Game One last night over Midland, 3-0.

Also.. "Texas Terry” At Tribute At TMS: Texas Motor Speedway is planning a special celebration to honor Labonte during the Dickies 500 weekend. A commemorative Terry Labonte poster is being produced that will be included in the official souvenir race program sold at the speedway. In addition, the printed program will feature a special section honoring Labonte’s career. The official Texas Motor Speedway souvenir race program is $10. Saturday Evening Drive: Texas Motor Speedway fans have a unique opportunity to drive their personal vehicles on the 1.5-mile superspeedway this Saturday night. It is the annual Laps For Charity, benefiting Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC). From 5-10 p.m. fans take three laps around “The Great American Speedway!” for just a $25 donation to SCC and get their picture taken in Victory Lane for just $10. No advance registration is required. Enter through the South Tunnel at the speedway. Drivers must be 21 years of age or older and all other passengers must be 6 years of age or older.
