Testing???

I just looked at TR and they had Tuesday Morning test speeds. Rusty wallace driving the 2B Ford? Did I miss something? What's with the B? and I'm pretty sure he is driving a Dodge this year, right?

Most teams don't have the paint schemes on the cars for these tests. Instead, they'll primer them and put something on them to identify them...like 2B or something...for comparison. Nothing unusual.

The Ford thing, now...THAT'S odd. Last I heard he was Moparring it these days. Then again, TR ain't immune from a typo...

They will often use a letter to distinguish 2 or 3 test cars from each other that are from the same team.

It's possible that one of the test cars is still from their Ford stables. This year they are letting them use computer telemetry and they can tell as much from one make to the next especially with the common templates.

Not the most reliable site to check, that's for sure.

Anybody know if there is any TV coverage of testing?

They apparently have fixed that now, it says Dodge!

Covereage tonight is 6:30-7pm Eastern on Speed.

Taped tonite on Speed methinks. There's a thread on this forum somewhere about it.

Interesting...Carl Long faster than Tony Stewart...

I know it's just testing and all, but still interesting.

Carl is driving a Petty Dodge just using a diffrent team name.
PE is testing 4 diffrent type of cars down there during testing. Each team was goign to be testing a car but with CF not racing for PE in the 500 don't know who is testing the 4th type of car.

May I point out Ken Schrader practicing 12th in the Bamma-lamma-ding-dong Dodge? What's going on there?

And of course I'm excited about Michael Waltrip sitting 7th right there, I think he has a good shot at competing for the win this year.

Ok for all you guys that trashed Schrader eat crow....i know it only testing but obviously they found a little speed ....huh?

Kyle and John switched test days. Kyle has some kins of commitment this week, so they asked NASCAr if John and Kyle can swap dates.

The boys are feeding on hamburger, not steak right now is all.
But it is spring training for sure.:)

I've gotta laugh when people are impressed with a 7th or 12th place time on the first day of Daytona practice when half of the teams are sandbagging and the other half aren't even at the track.

Oh yeah and shame on me for "common templates" I heard on speed channel that it is supposed to be "aero equal" My bad!

Kel

Carl Long was faster than Tony Stewart in the morning session because Stewart only ran two laps during the morning session. I still think Rusty will be the man to beat in Daytona this year

Them DEI and RCR boys are gonna be on top of their game come Daytona... watch out..

I totally agree about the sanbag thing, but who's to say the 49 wasn't holding back a little too??? And yes i feel Jr or Michael will win the 500!

This is testing, isn't it? Sandbagging or going flat out......makes no difference at all. Who knows what the teams are trying to accomplish? Some are just fine tuning their cars, some are trying to work out kinks.......some are probably testing different things for NASCAR! It's not practice so who's fastest or slowest has no relevence at all.......not that practice speeds ever do with any consistancy.:D
