Ok, you're the execs at Texaco. Rudd is out of your car. Yates cannot pawn off the sponsorship on anyone else. But, Texaco exercises there sponsorship renewal per contract. Could they force Yates to run a third car?

Or are NASCAR contracts unenforceable or worthless?

I think if i were Yates, I would buddy up a little closer to Travis Carter and move the Texaco star over there. It would be interesting if Yates is forced to do the deal.

Would a sponser force someone to take $10 million or whatever it is. That doesn't sound very smart even to my blond brain. It would seem like they wouldn't have any trouble finding a team who wants to have them for a sponser.

It would depend on who Texaco's contract is with, Rudd or Yates. If it's with Rudd, they may be on the 21 next year. If it's with Yates, either he will have to provide a third car, or there has been some dead presidents change hands lately. I'm going with option B. That would leave Texaco free to find another place to spend their money. Whether it is another team or on something besides a NASCAR team.

Seems like all us racing fans are becoming "race track lawyers" lately.

How about Texaco going to the 36 team and doing a complete sponsor-swap w/ M&M's!

Heard they might want to stick with Fords though (in which case TNW's scenario about them going with Rudd might have merit)

Last I heard they were going with Rudd. But it is silly season.

I thouight on RPM2nite last night they said that Chip does have havoline signed up for the 3rd car and he is looking for a driver to take the seat. Could this be where Bobby hamilton couldl end up or maybe Jerry Nedeau.

I say the Texico Star will go with a Texan,Do you know who that is?:)

Wrong TnWard,That would be Hank Hill.:P JR should have married that Jennie he was dreaming of.:D

Havoline will not go to the 36 car because of Johnny's team which is sponsored and partly-owned by Valvoline.

Tell me again why the 28 and texaco left RYR. They didn't get to stay with Rudd.

Sometime and somewhere in the last week I could have sworn I heard that Rudd is taking the Havoline with him? No I am not 100% sure on it and I can't remember where I got that idea but I could swear that is the understanding I had. Anyone else or is it just me?

It's not just you racin-8......that's what I heard and I haven't heard any different. Where Rudd goes, Texaco goes.:)

I guess a 10 million dollar sponsor just isn't what it used to be any more.

Texaco was thinking of leaving the sport any way, so don't be surprised if they pull out after losing Rudd.

I had heard that the Ganassi deal was being put together for Havoline and 28 to go there with Rudd as their driver. Said they were having discussions with Yates. After the announcement about Rudd and Ganassi not coming together on a deal, I then heard that Havoline was still talking and trying to put a deal together with Ganassi. That's all rumor though.
