TT has suspended coach Mike Leach over an incident or two with Adam James, son of Craig James of ESPN. Adam is a redshirt sophomore wide reciever who received a concussion during practice. From there, the stories vary depending on who is telling the story. James and his family have filed a complaint that Leach put the younger James in a dark room and left a guard outside the door. Leach and his attorney say that what the coach did was the right thing to do with this injury. Leach will not coach the team in the upcoming bowl game. Stay tuned...

I kind of like Adam James version of the story myself. It is a much more interesting story anyway. His dad, Craig James, was a great running back with Eric Dickerson at SMU and a very good pro as well. He is also a college football announcer for ESPN and ABC as well. He certainly understands the severity of the allegations he is making and also understands what this could do to his son's reputation as well. There is no way he filed these charges lightly.

or most likely any other game if the tt investigation shows abuse of any of his players. he should spend his time-out searching for another job. taking legal action your boss doesn't bode well for a long career there.

I don't think it is about keeping his job there at this point. I think he is just trying to get as much money from the University as he can on the way out. They said he has an $800,000 bonus due if he is the coach in about another week or so. His attorney has filed an injunction to try to allow him to coach in the bowl game. Even if they have to pay him to go away, I have a feeling that he will be gone really soon. The funny thing is, though that he is a winning coach so he will be out of a job for a year or so until the backlash dies down and he will probably be getting paid during that time. Then, he will resurface a year or two down the road with another well paying job coaching young men.

Gone 800,000 for not coaching until Dec. 31st, 2009.
Coming in 400 thou for the remaining years on contract x 5 years.

I don't think TT liked Leach anyway, they really hedged on giving him a contract extension after 2008.

What a joke, hell from what I hear, I wouldn't want to stay in Lubbock either.

This is an interesting story now. Most in the know felt this would happen anyway, with or without Adam James. James just seemed like the conduit for the ousting. This will surely be the headlines for the next week or so, overshadowing most of the bowl games.

That was only guaranteed if he got fired for poor performance by the team. It's tough to get money from a boss you sued, especially when you are documented to have abused players.

You got that right. This is an excerpt from the statements made by Texas Tech...

"In a defiant act of insubordination, Coach Leach continually refused to cooperate in a meaningful way to help resolve the complaint. He also refused to obey a suspension order and instead sued Texas Tech University,"

I thought it was kind of funny that they mentioned that in their statement.

I get sick of people not taking responsibility for their behavior and running to the courts every time they have to deal with the consequences of their own actions. I like that that was part of what bit him in the ass on this one.
