I would like to thank everyone for the prayers, well wishes, and phone calls, after a brief stay in Madisonville and trying to get clearance to land a medicvac in L’vill or Nashville but due to the weather I was took via ground to the ICU of St. Mary’s in Evansville, IN. All my CAT scans and everything came back fine and there was no bleeding. Around 2pm Sunday afternoon I was moved to a reg room in the hospital and stayed there until I was released around 2 this afternoon.

The flip happened on the last lap of the heat race in turn ¾. I hit a rut and the car got air born, then slammed down on the roof and rolled 4 times, Finally stopping with the drivers door down. All of the safety stuff I had did its job, I also want to add if you do not have helmet supports on both sides of your seat and some kind of neck brace to please get one, and it makes a huge difference in a wreck.

Since I had a concussion they want me to do some therapy just to make sure everything get back to 100%

Sadly it looks like I am done for the year. I hate to go out like this, but I am just thankfully that I am alive and I will be able to race again.

I also want to give a huge thanks to the safety workers at WKS and the staff of St. Mary’s.

Nick Alexander

Thank goodness you are safe and sound, Nick.

The racing may be over for this year, but at least you're around and healthy. The competition will have to look out next year ---- you'll be back.

(((HUGS)))

Yeah Lappy, we want you to be around for a long time and I'm glad that you're feeling okay, but just the same, make sure you follow the doctor's orders.

Thanks guys! I dont see how them nascar drivers can flip, bang the wall and have an consission, then get right back in the car a few days later, im still light headed and everything, i would not even drive my street car 5 mph to the corner and back.

Next year i will have a HANS(sp) set up.

I have added some pics of the car.

Bah. A little Bondo and a rattle can of paint and you're back in business. I'm sure you can still get a good trade-in on it.

I'm shocked that anyone's racing without a HANS these days.

I had a 360 neck brace on.

The car is done, got to take the seat, motor/tranny, fule cell, fule pump off of it, and im going to push the car to the side, going to keep it since its my 1st racecar but its days on the track are over.

I am going to shop around, i may not get a HANS brand name, but i will have a head and neck support that will keep my head from going forward. I am looking at a G-Force set up right now.

It took me fliping my car for some of the orther racers to look at safty closer then b4. I just hope they get some of the saftry devices b4 they get hurt also.

theres also the hutchins remember

and theres some device that john force uses, i goes all the way from a neck restraight all the way down the back to help keep your back straight. Not sure what it's called.

Glad to hear your parts are still in the right places Lappy!

Knowing you, I believe that you have learned a LOT this year and will do better next season.
SAFETY FIRST! Besides, you have only 1 brain, and can't rattle it too often without getting scrambled eggs and nobody wants that for you!

GENTLE {{{{{HUGS}}}}} from Kat

Wow Lappy that is a tough way to end the season, hope you can get another car ready for next year. I thought it was pretty much mandatory that some sort of Hans type device had to be used now at most tracks across the country. Maybe it is only the Nascar sanctioned tracks that make it mandatory? I think though, it should be required safety equipment where ever you race. Glad you are ok!
