To those who replied to my post and sent pm's about DeNiro, they were greatly appreciated. He was put down at 3;00 Saturday. My wife and daughter are still basket cases. He was 21, a thorobred with Jockey Club registration. Even won a few races at Belmont and other tracks. We got him from a lady friend of my daughter when he was 7. My daughter re=trained him and they won a lot of competitions in the hunter/jumper category. That horse could run, one of my most vivid memories was watching Jen, my daughter, on him running one day. His mane and tail straight back, her pony tail sticking out from under her helmet straight back too. Both of them grinning like idiots. My heart was in my throat. Damm he was fast and he loved to run. She quit showing him when he was around 14-15 and he lived the life of leisure ever since.

Now we are dealing with Red, he was D's stable mate after Dakota was put down last January. Dakota was a 1/4 horse 34 years old that we rescued. Red is also a rescue horse and he now spends a good part of the day looking down the hill to where DeNiro and Dakota are buried, it's really heartbreaking to see.

Some say animals aren't smart or understand. I disagree.

Ronald Reagan once said "There's something about the outside of a horse that makes a man feel good inside". I agree 100%.

Can't replace him but I have contacted the rescue group. You just can't have one horse,,,,,can you?

SST, you don't know how much I hurt for you and your family. Our fur-kids are part of us.

And most definitely Red needs a stablemate. Having one horse is like having one dog, can't be done.
