It's just incredible that Jimmie Johnson can do what he can do. They are never out of a race. They get a lap down, eventually get it back, and have an amazing run at the end to finish 2nd. He's doing what Jeff Gordon did in the mid and late 90's. It's becoming predictable and boring.

I second that!!!!!

I do agree it's getting boring and I now understand why Jeff got booed so much when he came in and up-ended the apple cart as a young "punk." ;) So much for the Chase making things more exciting. JJ could have the championship locked up by this coming weekend if he pulls out his cape again.

I'm sorry, but Jimmie's the man! Call me a bandwagon-jumper if you want...

Don't forget Chad. The guy's a friggin' genius.

What's Chad got under his hat? Batteries?

Chad Knaus is an incredible crew chief. Sure, Jimmie's a great driver but I don't think he would be where he's at right now if it weren't for Chad Knaus.

Not slighting JJ, but I think Knaus is the key to the whole operation.

What we need is a poll. For example, if you put Chad with Kenny Wallace or Derrike Cope are you saying that Kenny or Derrike would be running for 3 straight championships. I didn't think so.
But, likewise if you put Eury Jr. with Jimmie I don't think Jimmie is running for the 3 either.
IMO, sometimes its Jimmie and sometimes its Chad who makes the difference. Its a balance the 2 of them have reached. It was a balance that Jeff and Ray reached that Jeff is still looking for with Robbie Doofus and then Steve Retard.

good point on eury jr. I don't think eury jr. is gonna be a crew cheif next year, it seems he just don't understand the COT and I don't think rick h. is gonna wait for him to learn cause it seems that dale and tony are arguing every race on the setup of the car.

I agree BP. It is the combination of the two. Think maybe if Gillette would buy Ray out we could get him back???? PLEASE

No dis on Jimmie, but it's a combination of everything.

If Jimmie wasn't with Hendrick Motorsports, do you think he would be competitive at all?

Jimmie's a good driver with THE BEST equipment and one of the best crew chiefs. Look what happens when Jimmie runs the Busch races with some other crew chief - he doesn't even place top 5 (with Hendrick equipment). Look what happens when Jimmie doesn't have Hendrick horsepower under the hood, he doesn't even run top 20.

There are several drivers who would be able to win multiple championships with a great CC like Chad and with Hendrick Motorsports.

I can think of 10 or 15 drivers could win multiple Cup championships with Chad Knaus AND Hendrick Motorsports.

Jimmie, Chad and HMS is NASCAR's equivalent of the New England Patriots.

So you're saying Kenny has a chance... :D

Chad Knaus is another product of Illinois short track racing :beerbang:

Coming soon....Justin Allgaier lol

You'll have to dig deep in to the ARCA Racing archives for that. :p

:D

But we're not talking ARCA. When was his prime in Cup?

Please try to pay attention to the conversation or we'll have to tell your mommy not to give you any more sugar products... :D

I'm not saying Johnson is a stiff. I think it takes two to make the operation work the way it does. Just look at Gordon when he drove for Evernham. He was dominant. Many thought he'd continue that once Evernham left. While he did win another title, he has not been the same driver since then.

Johnson won a couple of races when Knaus was suspended at the beginning of the season when Grubb was the crew chief. I think Grubb is very good as well. But when Knaus was suspended last year and Grubb was not the fill-in, Johnson struggled big time.

They have that magic touch right now. It seems they can't do anything wrong. He spends part of the race a lap down and finishes 2nd at the end. Compare that with Stewart who got a lap down, finally got his lap back on the last caution, put on 4 new tires, and could pass no one.
