The 11 Most Intelligent Drivers in Nascar

Kind of a bizarre list. Ah well fun for discussion. Not that I disagree with who was included or the order, but seems to just be a weird premise.
 
For those of you who hate lists in slide show format as much as I do,

11. Danica Patrick
10. Kevin Harvick
9. Kurt Busch
8. Matt Kenseth
7. Jeff Burton
6. Mark Martin
5. Kyle Busch
4. Jeff Gordon
3. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
2. Jimmie Johnson
1. Tony Stewart.

Compare and contrast; use back of page if necessary. I'd drop Kyle to 8th; swap Kevin and Kurt, and replace Danica with Brad.
 
Yeah that is why I threw it up there, I thought it was interesting. Charlie has the short form posted. The slide show has the authors opinion with the picture. I do agree with his number one pick, #5 was an interesting read.

Kinda explains why the list is 'Top 11' instead of the usual 'Top 10'. Obviously a gimmick so she could be included, the same way NASCAR changed the Chase qualifying rules when Gordon and Jr. didn't make it.

I think this guy is trying to say you're not very intelligent if you drive a Ford.
 
I like his take on Gordon. That could possibly happen, he has hosted daytime shows on TV and did a good job. He isn't very involved with racing besides his own career.
 
They left out Ryan Newman, who is the only regular on the circuit who has a bachelor's degree (in engineering, mind you!).

Not a very compelling list, if you ask me. Jeff Gordon is intelligent because he likes wine and appears on TV? Or Jimmie Johnson because he has a charity? Or Kyle Busch because he rushed through his high school coursework in order to get the hell out of school? Wacky list...
 
Smartest?

Paul Menard. Figured out what he wanted to do, got Dad to pay for it, loves what he does, and isn't an ass.

That's pretty damn smart if you ask me.
 
I'd say Ryan Newman, Brad Kesleowski, Danica Patrick, Kevin Harvick, Mark Martin and Matt Kenseth would be my list for smartest drivers.

Andy, it's very clear that our thoughts concerning nascar are on 2 different worlds, but I think there is one thing on common ground because I believe Brad should be on the list too, but unfortunately the rest of your choices...not so much!

Newman's a mechanical engineer - literally. Danica Patrick makes the list IMO because she is a smart business woman. She's one of the worst drivers but she's a very smart businessperson who knows how to stay in the spotlight. Mark Martin quite literally invented the fitness regimen that everyone in the sport utilizes today. Stewart also makes my list.

Johnson, he's a good driver but I think a lot of the brain over there is Chad Knaus. And that's nothing against Jimmie - I think he's extremely underrated as a driver even though I don't like him.

My sons mother has an IQ of 140, but she has gotta be the stupidest individual I know!
 
I will soon be releasing MY list of the true top 11 drivers and that is the one we will all live by. Stay tuned.
 
Pretty darn tough to do . Some were great , some are becoming great , only two or three are great right now. It's really a shifting target . Don't see how you can do it.

Yeah I agree, I remember a few years back Jimmy and Chad weren't getting along. Jimmy backed off Chad who was giving him too much information about the car that didn't equate to driving. Don't know if it was brain overload or Jimmy defining his job, but it turned out to be a smart move for both of them.

One of the worst drivers? I have a hard time figuring out if the Danica haters are cracking jokes or are really that far back in the ages in your minds. The very act of getting one these monsters around a race track at near 200 miles an hour and not wreck for just one lap takes an enormous amount of driving skill let alone doing it for 500 miles fender to fender with hungry race car drivers all around you.

But on side note I know she is smarter than the dude whop wrote the article,.........................uh dumb article? lol

I think everyone knows it is not easy.
But compared to her peers or the other 42, she isnt in the top 30. She putters around with the lucky dogs and wave arounds.
Pathetic for the equipment provided.
All this woman hating crap gets thin, a damn blind monkey could see that she is in over head.
 
Danica deserves to be on the list simply because she was smart enough to cash in knowing top 20 runs would be a rare event.

Top twenty runs are a rarity for rookies . There are some pretty fair racecar drivers in the top twenty . Austin Dillon is racing this weekend , along with Trevor Bayne , I wouldn't put money on either of them making the top thirty.

Yeah, I'm not really too hip on disliking her because of her gender. Unfortunately she has too much hype for her ability. To me this isn't a gender issue, it's the hype matching the performance (or lack there of)!
I'm sure if Chase Elliott steps into cup cars and fails as miserably as she had I will dislike him as a driver too, but by no means does that mean I wouldn't like him as a person.
 
Stenhouse is doing a hell of a job in the top 20 and driving the slowest make in the races this year. I expect him to go higher if they get the Fords running better.
