Knoxville, TN (April 23rd, 2007) Over the next seven weeks, the cars and stars of the 2007 version of The Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series will travel to four first time tracks and will make return visits to familiar ground at three others.
The seven week stretch will begin this Saturday night April 28th at Crossville Raceway in Crossville, TN. It will be the fifth overall visit by the series to the 1/3 mile oval but the first time the track will run as a Saturday night venue as apposed to Friday’s as has been the case in the past. The Plateau Spring 50 will pay $3,000 to the winner. The 2006 Sunoco Shoot-Out will also be offered up consisting of twelve cars running for a twelve lap dash, paying $1200 to win on Saturday night.
The series then makes it’s first ever visit to one of America’s best known race tracks; Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN for the Pizza Plus presents: Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series Late Models for a $5,000 to win event on Saturday May 5th.
The series will then return to North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA, the site of the 2007 season opener which produced 59 Super Late Models for the $5,000 to win event on Saturday March 10th. The Bull Dawg Mayhem 50 will pay $3,000 to win on Saturday May 12th.
The series then travels north to Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA for the first ever visit to the Commonwealth State and the first time at the ½ mile clay oval Wythe Raceway. It will also mark the first Jeld Wen Windows and Doors Border Wars Challenge presented by 84 Lumber (the first in a seven race mini series) for a $5,000 to show on Saturday May 19th.
On Saturday May 26th the series returns once again to familiar ground at Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, NC for a first for the track as they are offering up a $5,000 to win event on Memorial Day weekend in what will be round number two for the Jeld Wen Windows and Doors Border Wars Challenge Series presented by 84 Lumber.
The series will then return to home base (Knoxville, TN area) for it’s first ever visit at Mountain Raceway Park and Fairgrounds in Maryville, TN, formerly Smoky Mountain Speedway for a $3,000 to win event.
And finally another visit to a first time track for the series will take place at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA for a $3,000 to win event on Sunday June 10th; putting the wraps on the seven week run. The series takes the next two weeks off before getting ready for a three race Triple Crown Challenge during the fourth of July Holiday week featuring three tracks each hosting $5,000 to win shows.
