The Alamo - The Remake

I thought it was pretty well done when I saw it yesterday. Nevertheless, if I had to compare the Alamo movie made a long ways back starring John Wayne as Davy Crockett and this one, in terms of historical accuracy, the new movie really blows it away. Historically, it was pretty accurate. Also, the final scene with Davy Crockett was kinda cheesy but it was funny.

Overall, an A+ from me, has anyone else seen it yet?

Not yet...but just watched the old one on tv yesterday!!! Read the new one didn't get a very high rating for the story line but the acting was suspose to be A+.... I'm a fan of Dennis Quaid so I'll be sure & see it soon.

Haven't seen it, and probably won't. At least not at the movie theater. I usually just wait for movies to come out on satellite or on dvd.

Plan on watching it when it comes on here. I read that Davy was not killed the night they stormed the Alamo. He and a few others were exacuted a day or to latter.

According to most historians that's what happened, and it's also in the movie unlike the old movie where John Wayne who played Davy Crockett in the old one runs into the stock ammunition room with a torch and blows the room up and kills half of the invading Mexican Army including himself.

There are lots more war movies that are being released this year like TROY, can't wait to see that one.

Plan on going to see Alamo tomorrow night, Yep Troy is another one that I am waiting on.

Just came back from watching Kill Bill Vol. 2.....

It wasnt bad, it kinda sucked, but it wasnt bad. :D

Planning on seeing the Alamo this weekend! The critics gave it low marks but I never agree with them anyway! :p

Just what makes the world go round. One reason there are democrats and republicans, NASCAR fans who are restrictor plate and non-plate racing aficionados. Ah who to believe. And accuracy ??? How many of you who claim it is accurate actually have read the history books and know the history of "The Alamo"????

Every reviews of the movie in general have panned the flik as being one of substantial financial losses for Disney beginning with, it is not a good movie nor is it historically accurate.

This from one critic:

FORGET THE ALAMO

"Even with my strong background in covering Hollywood's moral and political abuses for years, I never expected 'The Alamo' would go this far. I never expected Disney would lie. I never expected the filmmakers would just make it up as they went along. . . . It's a shame. This film needs to die a quick and unmerciful death at the box office. Don't go see this movie. Don't let your kids see it. Don't rent it. Don't buy the DVD of the video."

- Columnist Joseph Farah

And this from the Whizzer.

If you want historical accuracy, do NOT see movies made for entertainment, claiming to be accurate and shown in a movie theatre.
The Alamo might appeal to NASCAR fans that like restrictor plate racing since neither is an accurate representation of the advertised format. Just as The Alamo is reported to be historically accuarate, so is calling restrictor plate racing considered "racing". They are both entertainment. Nothing more.

No movie is ever historicaly accurate. I don't claim to be a history buff but I have read the history of the Alamo. And this movie is more accurate than any other Alamo movie that I have seen. But I thought It was still a pretty good movie. :D

Whizzer.... You are good man but allow me to respond to you with this passage from For Whom the Bell Tolls

"It did not," the soldier who was cooking said." And anyway this past May was the moon of April."

"One could go crazy listening to thee and thy moons," the corporal said. "Leave this of the moons alone."

" Any one who lives either by the sea or by the land knows that it is the moon and not the month which counts," the soldier who was cooking said. "Now for example, we have just started the moon of May. Yet it is coming on June."

"Why then do we not get definitely behind in the seasons?" the corporal said. "The whole proposition gives me a headache"

"You are from a town," the soldier said. " You are from Lugo. What would you know of the sea or of the land?" (Hemingway, 195)

What relevance did that have to the post. Nothing. Exactly.

RESTRICTOR PLATES LIVE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
