The best current or active driver polls. 2.0

1.The first thread is so cluttered it probably discourages participation or interest. Hopefully this will simplify matters.

2. The first set of polls are running and will close out on Friday . A procedure change is effect. With the exception of the final poll, almost all of the final 20 drivers are only eliminated after a second loss (double elimination). Hopefully that will remedy some of the seeding flaws.
It also will allow for more head to head match ups among some great drivers.

3. The net results or operating rules for round two

1. Jimmie Johnson vs 16
2. Jeff Gordon vs 15
3. Tony Stewart vs 14
4 .Bill Elliott vs 13
5. Kurt Busch vs 12
6. Matt Kenseth vs 11
7. Brad Keselowski vs 10
8. Mark Martin vs 9 Denny Hamlin
(The above polls will be open for four days)

Seed # 10 Will be the driver with the most votes in the current set of polls, 1st tiebreaker vote %, 2nd tiebreaker original seed postion.
Seed 11 the driver with the second most votes etc
....
Provisional Seed 16, the winner of the current polls with the lowest vote count.

Seed 17, will be the driver who did not win his poll, but had the most votes among that group.
Seed 18 the driver with the next highest vote count.
Seed 19
Seed 20

All others are eliminated.

For seeds 20- 16 the following elimination polls will consist of:
Seed 20 vs 19
The winner vs seed 18
The winner vs seed 17
The winner verse seed 16 (if seed 16 losses this one they are eliminated regardless of no previous losses)
The winner or seed 16 will be polled against 1 Jimmie Johnson. (These elimination rounds will last only 24 hours)

Round three will work the same way

1 vs (8)
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

Like round two They will be seeded by votes count from the previous round . These polls will be opened for four days.

For that double elimination
16 vs 15, then the winner opposes 14 etc until we reach the final 8 (these polls will be open for 36 hours.

Note: this is posted to prevent any surprises, and to spell out the protocols of Greg, before it effects any driver.

This is quick list, I will make it more presentable when I get home

All drivers with at least 4 votes make it to the elimination rounds, drivers seeded in the top 15 will go to round two.

Seems to me that some folks are defining 'current' as 'last ten races ' and others are defining it as ' last ten years' , some are just voting what the neighbours dog says .
Some I think are looking at the late 80's

Yep, that's what I figured would happen. I define 'current' as the past 1 or 2 years because that's the limit of my attention span.

I hope my math is correct and somebody probably has this info in a better format, but if you track the accomplishments of Gordon, Johnson, and Stewart by every 10th win, and Cup titles, by their starts it looks like this:

Race 93 Jeff Gordon wins his first championship
Race # 95 Jimmie Johnson wins his 10th race
Race # 96 Jeff Gordon wins his 10th race
Race # 124 Jeff Gordon wins his 20th race
Race 140 Tony Stewart wins his first Championship
Race # 149 Jimmie Johnson wins his 20th race

Race 291 Jimmie Johnson wins his 4th Championship

I know that's wrong, but that was fun. I'm not sure what it all means though.

Ok how many events were completed by them when they each won their 4th titles.

lowest vote count will be seeded 15th.....all the way to seed #9.

B Elimination round
-Polls B1, B2 & B3 will be open 36 hours
-Beginning with poll B4 the elimination polls will be open for 2 days (believing that interest and participation will only increase as we start to sort through best drivers has led to allowing more time for the undecided voters)

B3 seed 13 vz B2 winner
B4 seed 12 vz B3 winner

I will be away for a few days. Minor nasal surgery for a deviated septum and a bone spur in the morning, but there are polls that will run through Saturday, By Saturday I should be back to posting new polls.
Prayers are needed for good Christian nurses

All the best Greg , I sure hope the guy who broke your nose ended up in worse shape than you. Be kind to the nurses . We'll just have to shut down the forum till you get back.:D

Minor nasal surgery? Is that what they're calling it these days? I hear there transgender surgeries aren't as hard to recover from as they once were. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to have a set of breasts to ogle all the time though.

As others have said..... All the best Greg.

Thanks to all leaving for the hosptial now in 10 minutes No problems expected. After they remove the nose packing (whatever its called) maybe I will post those removed innards, aka the afterbirth.

You guys have so much class, it runs like the water over niagra.

And Ted, stop being so funny.

My buddy Shawn had that done a few years ago to correct an issue from being kicked in the face by a horse when he was a kid. Awful looking mess it was - the surgery, that is. He didn't seem to enjoy it but the horse incident did teach him to duck :D

Seems to be a lot of firsthand info there dpk. Is this one of those 'a friend of mine' cover statements to express buyers remorse? ;)

Does it come with a string attached? ;)

Good luck. I had it done, and it isn't fun.

1. Seeds are set by vote count
2. If the vote is tied the highest % breaks the tie
3. If the vote count and percentage is tied, then the original seed position breaks the tie.
4. Hopefully no repeated matches will occur, but if they do occur in the elimination round the votes in this elimination round will be the only one that counts.
5. If a tie occurs in the elimination round both drivers will advance into the next poll which will as a result be a three way poll.
6. If a tie between the first 8 seeds occurs, they will be seeded in the next round based on the established tiebreakers which will default to the original highest seed position (no one is eliminated in that round and no driver will be eliminated by a tied vote).

*Bill Elliott was originally seeded higher than Brad Keselowski and has the tie breaker
*Kyle Busch was originally seeded higher than Denny Hamlin and gets the tie breaker.

The elimination rounds

B1 Carl Edwards vs. Clint Bowyer
B2 Terry Labonte vs. B1 winner
