I'm watching an old re-run of Saturday Night Live on the Comedy Channel. Jimmy Page and Puff Daddy is molesting a great Led Zepplin tune.......
 
Everyone sold their soles to that Puff Daddy character...it seemed for a while there he came out with a new song that was just the sampling of some 70's rock tune.

But that is a pretty low point for rock and roll.
 
Definitely one of the lowest points. I also nominate Kiss as they are the biggest commercial whores to ever enter Rock.

I'm not saying their music is bad, but they never have said no to a commercial either....

Not saying you need approval for anything, just noting that TNW has a huge thing for KISS. I personally never got into them much after I turned like 6 years old. But to each his own.
 
To each his own, and a little more. I've been a KISS fanatic since April 17, 1974. No denying from me that they are money grubbers. The commercial whore thing....that may be a bit far-fetched. I defy anyone to name another band that revolutionized the live performance half as much as they have, though. If you've ever seen them live, you know I'm right. If you've ever seen anyone else live, you can thank Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter for what you saw.

As to the biggest travesty, I gotta go with Dolly Parton (talk about a commercial.....) ripping off everyone from Blackfoot to Led Zeppelin. Even had the guts to remake Stairway To Heaven. Musical integrity? Gimme four guys in theatre makeup spitting blood any day over 50 pounds of silicone wrapped around a ton of Aqua Net.

But as I said, to each his own.

TWF, fair enough. and you do make very good points. Your right, I never have seen Kiss in person, but everyone who has talks about how incredible it is. As far as Dolly goes, I think she was the one who showed the world you could make alot of money singing because of your chest. But like you said, to each his own :D
