as if the potential for carnage wasn't enough already:

"Talladega Superspeedway has long been known as NASCAR’s Most Competitive Track…and now it’s looking to back up that reputation with cold hard cash. Track officials believe that this month’s running of the Good Sam Club 500 could eclipse 100 lead changes during the race and should that happen, the driver who takes the lead the most times throughout the race will earn $100,000."

crew chiefs for non-chase teams will now have to keep track of lead changes.

great, now drivers will be going for the lead every chance they get during the race. odds just went up that the big one starts at P1.

Meant to break up the two car draft?

Pace car might be the only one to finish..

Hooray, time for another race turned into a demolition derby!! *roll eyes*

Some fans complain that the drivers have no reason to run up front at these restrictor plate tracks because it all comes down to the end. Now, fans complain when they do give them more incentive to run up front. Sounds like a lose lose situation for NASCAR. I think the idea sounds pretty cool. For all of you that are restrictor plate haters, two by two haters, & now some new incentive haters..... tune out on Talladega Sunday and send NASCAR a message that you don't like what you're seeing but you won't do that.

I think this idea is pretty cool, yeah it might cause the big one but it also MIGHT just might cause people to you know...RACE and not do this two car tango bs.

The spring race had 88 lead changes and yet that was a "boring race."

These guys didn't even race hard for the Million at The All-Star race so 100 grand won't make a difference.

The package at Charlotte for short runs has become so aero dependent and tire dependent that they can't put on a decent race anymore. I for one wish they'd never removed the humps and bumps that made the track require a good shock/spring package and gave it charactor :(
Now you can put a monkey in the car and have a good finish there.

Exactly, well said. There's absolutely nothing NASCAR could do that would not result in *****ing and moaning by most everyone on this forum.

agreed. Yes it'll make for a bunched up field at the front, but racing is racing.

The two car draft is faster so that wont stop, but I can bet the cars will be changing every handfull of laps who the pusher is and who is in front.
