No Tony... Wow.
Kasey raced his 'little bum' off...

If Kevin keeps up this momentum he should walk away with the cup.

There are a number of instances that I can think back to where Tony pissed away his chance to race in the chase. The one that sticks out the most is where he needed to teach Ryan Newman a lesson at New Hampshire.

whew..i'm now so relief that this race is over with..sucks for tony though

Looks like a pretty good ten to race for the cup.

I wonder who #20 goes after first? For the record I'm guessing #5 or #17.

I think "Mr give and take" spent to much time giving lessons this year and not enough time racin. I'm actualy glad to see him not make it. Maybe next year he'll settle down and not try to murder 4 - 7 drivers.

What was it Tony said that if a driver didn't make the Chase they need to move on to something else? Anyone have his exact quote. Then again I suppose this is like his oft give "Give and Take" speech where it only applies to everyone else...

Driving School

Now that the Driving Instructor has knocked himself out of the chase, Carl Edwards can show him that that middle finger of his does not mean he is No. 1. Looks like the race for 11th might get pretty interesting.

Would like to remind you that Tony Stewart still does have 2 NASCAR championships and Carl has none.

I'm against the way Tony's raced all year but I absolutely hated Carl Edwards' actions at Pocono and Michigan. He has no place in a stock car. They should have suspended him for his actions at Michigan toward Dale Junyer.

The only good thing to come out of Michigan concerning Edward's actions is that now DEI is negotiating with Little Trees to be a sponsor. Cause you know they needed some type of air freshner for that car after the race... :)

Should every driver get suspended for bumping another car or just those who dare to go near the exalted #8?

Bumping is one thing. Slamming into another car because of anger, possibly. There is NO excuse to do this, and that is no matter WHO it is.

I agree. Green's action Saturday was uncalled for, as well as Edward's action when he hit Jr. Nascar cannot put up with those type of idiot moves.

tony

Glad to see Tony Stewart miss the chase. I try and root for him then he goes and does something stupid and I think how can I root for this guy?

You have to wonder if good ol' Tony will think that some of those in the Chase needs a lesson or 2. I mean whether or not he finishes 11th probably doesn't matter as he certainly doesn't need the $1mill.

I think with some egos out there, There will be a fight for 11th, incl #20

I guess some may look at it like Tony does, if you body slam at 160 mph plus it should be ok, but then he is the driving instructor. Guess maybe Carl should do his bodyslamming on the track it would be more (Nascar) politically correct.

Gotta give a hats-off to Denny Hamlin.
Is this kid not the best rookie prospect to come along in a long time?
He's fast on any type of track and has not made a lot of mistakes that other rookies often do.

That kid has it going "on". Awsome rookie year!!!

Hamlin really surprised me as the best rookie this year. At the begining of the season i picked Sorenson for the rookie to watch, especially after the good season he had in Busch in 05. Way to go Denny, nice to see him in the chase.:)

That is amazing. Mikey and the gang were saying on TV tonight that 7 drivers that were in the chase last year are not in it this year.

He's also kept his nose pretty clean...I like that...we'll see how long it lasts though.

Looks like front page news to me. This would really liven up the page. And, then each week post a pic of the race winner with smaller images of these 10 underneath arranged in their order of standings...

I am going to keep my eyes on Hamlin and Kahne. Both have proven themselves this year of being worthy contenders. I believe thay are both going to let it all out and if they connect could be up front in the Championship race.

this chase will prove to be interesting.. i dont really know who'll do what, this weekend will be a big indicator..

The final points kind of showed that #17 & #48 are pretty dominant so I'd have to put my money on one of them. But, the #29 is very strong right now so counting him out would be, IMO, a mistake.

Maybe, but that's the conventional thinking. Everyone is putting the first two or three in front except those who have been looking at the stats. Now I'm not one who will do that, but I've read more than one who put Mark Martin in the driver's seat. As for me, I'd put Jimmie Johnson in the seat that Mark Martin has been in for many years and those two can be co-pilots of the also rans. Yeah, Mark is sitting pretty, but he's been there for so many years that this is only his average. Jimmie is following in the same path, so I wouldn't bet a red cent on his chances. Who's hot? For sure Matt Kenseth is as well as Kevin Harvick. I'll put my money on those two followed by rookie Hamlin and Kasey Kahne. But one thing is for sure, the chase starts now.

I'm not sure Johnson or Martin or even Kenseth has the killer instinct to go for it. Harvick does. Kahne does. Hamlin maybe one day but not today. Lil'E and Jeff can be too easily distracted. Burton still has finishing issues.
I see Harvick on top...darnit...

I agree partly, except for the Hamlin part. I believe that Hamlin has it over Kahne, by far in the talent department. Where was Kasey in his first year? Denny is better on more types of tracks than Kasey. Kasey seems to struggle at some tracks.
I predict Denny will finish higher in the Chase than will Kasey.

Kevin Harvick is on fire as of late. If Kevin can improve on mile and a half tracks, he'll take it. He was pretty solid at Atlanta actually just got caught up in some typical average Kevin Harvick bad luck then got caught up in a Kurt Busch. I expect Kevin Harvick will try to win every race - and he's been really good at coming out of nowhere as of late. Nobody in the world thought Harvick would beat Greg Biffle at Phoenix but Harvick's been racing smart all year.

From NASCAR.com...

Denny Hamlin is the top-ranked Chase contender at New Hampshire with a Driver Rating of 107.8. Hamlin -- who only has raced at New Hampshire once in the Cup Series -- has been able to amass such a high Driver Rating because of his sixth-place finish and his ability to run near the front. He has completed 81.2 percent of his laps in the top 15.

Kevin Harvick and Kyle Buysch were awful strong last time in NHIS. Johnson has a few wins there and Jeff Burton's won there a few times. One year (1999 I think), Jeff Burton led litterally from start to finish.

It's all about momentum, just like in the NFL or MLB, taking that momentum into the playoffs gives you confidence to do well. Kahne has some momentum going for him right now , but so do a few of the other drivers in the chase. I think if you have one bad race in the Chase you can pretty much kiss your chances good bye. Talk about pressure, these guys, IMO earn their money every week.
