1987 Winston 500, his son Davey won the race, his first of 3 Winston 500 Cup wins at Talladega. The plate made it's debut at the 88 Daytona 500 won by Bobby with Davey second...
 
Good video, the flaps on the hood and roof sure seems to help, except this past season Kurt still flipped but nowhere nearly as extreme as those that ended up in nasty barrel rolls.
 
Wow... weird.. watching that actually got to me a bit. It sucks that so many people had to give their lives to make NASCAR the safe sport it is today. That guy on pit road. Wow..

While the NFL worries about dumbing the sport down to prevent concussions, NASCAR worries about losing the lives of hundreds of people in the blink of an eye.

Everything else is just a game.
