The Danica Factor strikes again: Saturday's Nationwide race at Daytona drew 4.4m viewers and was the most-watched in history of that series. Hate on that people!
ESPN Breaks Cable Viewership Record with NASCAR Telecast from Daytona
With an average of 4.4 million people watching, ESPN’s live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 25 has broken the previous record as the most-viewed race ever on cable television for the series.
The race telecast earned a household coverage rating of 3.3, averaging 4,433,249 viewers in 3,304,012 households, breaking the record of 4,271,365 viewers in 3,170,109 households set for ESPN’s telecast of the Daytona race in 2010.
Ratings and viewership for the Daytona telecast were up 37 percent from ESPN’s telecast of last year’s race, which earned a 2.4 household coverage rating and averaged 3,246,875 viewers.
“We’ve seen two consecutive years of ratings increases with the Nationwide Series on our networks and NASCAR carried some strong momentum and storylines into this year,” said Julie Sobieski, ESPN vice president, programming & acquisitions. “This certainly represents a great start to the season.”
How do they know it wasn't Timmy Hill that drew all those fans ? Just sayin.

No doubt she drives in fans, unfortunately the haters will have plenty to feed off of after ALL the events at Daytona!
Everything that is NEW becomes OLD in time - except for Joonyer Nation, that is...
Please try to justify your bolded comment.Im the biggest Danica fan there is and yes, she will bring in the fans at the beginning because she is new, a great driver, fresh, and a woman. But, as Indycar proved overtime, this too will fade as she gets time in NASCAR. Indycar attendance has dwindled the past few years and she was full-time in that series. I hope Im wrong but I dont think I am.

I think Danica may have helped Indycar's attendance even as it was dwindling. JMO btw. Two things that may have had a effect on Indycar lack of fan enthusiasm over the sport. One, and the #1 reason was it was televised on Versus a hard to find channel on any cable system. Two, Indycar's boner for Franchitti. He was allowed to drive over other drivers without any penalties. When Powers hit someone he was penalized, Franchitti they look the other way. Also all the foreign drivers, Indycar doesn't seem to try and get American talent in the cars. Another factor may be because viewers knew that Danica was leaving.
