Tom Cruise has signed on to play Billy Fiske, an American Pilot who served with the RAF during the Battle of Britain during WWII. For anyone who doesnt know, Fiske was the first American pilot to die during the Battle of Britain, he had one aerial victory during his time with the RAF.

This time, I hope Hollywood doesnt turn this into a "Tom Cruise gets the girl, flies into the air, shoots down half of the german luftwaffe and flys off into the sunset." Hopefully they capture the full intensity of the Battle of Britain, from the tenacious dogfights that British Spitfires had with German Messerschmitts. I also hope that this time, the directors and producers actually show the battles in their entirety saluting and actually showing the pilots on both sides who took to the air and in most cases never made it back to their airfields, who shot down other pilots and while they were swinging the joystick with their fingers on the machine gun triggers and had the thought that one moment, they could either be flying, or be dead.

Hopefully they dont turn it into a Pearl Harborish style movie because personally, two guys trying to get laid and playing hero just doesnt paint the picture or show the entirety of one of the most horrific events in world history.

I agree with u 29.. uhg Pearl harbor was horrible except the batte scenes. maybe they'll try and get us to fall in love with Tom and then cry at the end when he gets shot down. i just want historical accurasy (sp) but i bet it will be totally wrong about just about everything except for the fact that Britian won the battle.

If you want historical accuracy, watch the History Channel.

If you want smoke and mirrors, go to a movie and pay the price of admission. There are very few movies made that accurately depict the horrors of war.
It is doubtful if a movie were made to accurately depict the horrors of war as suggested, it would not be a box office hit, but rather become a quick sale at the discount video sales counter.
