The Final 8 in the current best driver’s polls
Before we start the next round I want to post the planned method and allow members to review and critique the process in advance. If you have a better idea I will give it an honest consideration. But for the final eight I am currently planning on polling the 7th seed against the 8th seed then the winner will advance to the 6th seed , until we finally we have the final two matched up. Following the normal procedure we would have polled seeds 4 through 8 the same way. The biggest difference is that seeds 1-4 will not poll against each other to determine a following elimination round, or more clearly every poll forward from this point will be an elimination round.
The reason I am planning on doing this is because the current format would create more rematches. Even in cases were there was no tie in the first poll between two drivers, and I want to limit rematches as much as possible, so again your feedback is appreciated and if the above plan is less than desirable please try to offer a constructive alternative. If none are made, I will proceed on with the polls on Friday the 28th.
Other items
Regarding the Kenseth/ Keselowski tie, the seeding tiebreaker goes to Kenseth he started the contest as the 6th seed, and Keselowski was the 7th seed. The seed position is awarded 1st on vote count, 2nd on percentage, and last of all on original seed position. This shouldn’t matter too much; the odds are they will be rematched in the next round.
If they do rematch and tie again they both will proceed to a three way poll against the Stewart (the next highest seed, if the winner of that three way poll has less than 50 % of the vote the top two will have another runoff poll. I will post every conceivable tie breaker if that poll has to be created).
Currently
Either is Gordon or Johnson will be top seeded, the other second seeded.
Stewart will be 3rd seeded.
Kenseth fourth seeded
Keselowski 5th seeded
Elliott or Kyle Busch will be 6th or 7th seeded.
Kurt Busch will be 8th seeded.
There will be some consi polls to better index the ranks of eliminated drivers when applicable.
For example if the 1st seed loses to the 2nd seed the second seed is the contest winner, afterwards the 3rd seeded driver will be polled against the former number one seed that was eliminated by the 2nd seed to determine a true 2nd position . The consi polls will go up as long as folks remain interested.
