In my state the flu has claimed 5 children so far with 3 more children's deaths being linked to the flu This is a serious outbreak of an apparantly new strain, so if you or your child has flu symptoms, PLEASE get to the doctor ASAP!
The beauty (and I use it as sarcasm) of this flu strain is that...you can get it twice! At least, I did. I had full blown flu for three weeks (the last three of October) and then it returned last week for about 5 days in a milder form. So, just because you get rid of it once, be prepared for it again. I would reocmmend a Z-Pack (Zithromyacin?) and/or aleve and some tussin. Of course, if it's your kids, take'em to the doctor.
Oh great just what i wanted to hear ....you can get it twice. I had it about 3 weeks ago ,was sick right through Thanksgiving. Nasty stuff, my sinuses were clogged up for 2 weeks. Where i live in Colorado it has been really bad, quite a few children have died.
I live in Colorado also, my three kids and I all suffered the flu in the same week. I still had this cough left over. I don't think I had ever been that sick. My fever was 102.
My story doesnt have that much to do with the flu really but has to do with getting sick:
4 or 5 years ago, I had pneumonia and my temp was like 100-105 somewhere in that range and I spent my entire Christmas week in the hospital hooked up to the IV Fluids and that kinda stuff.
Just recently, I had bronchitis, my temp didnt get any higher than 99 though and I coughed for a little bit and I managed to get medication for that so it turned out ok.
I have had the flu since monday night. My temp peaked at about 103. Been off work since tuesday. Not gonna be a great x-mas, my sister has it as well, she is the one who gave it to me.
