The wife and I watched the Swedish version of this story and really liked it. Can't wait to see the American version to compare. I've got the next two movies of the Millennium series, the Swedish versions. The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest

I saw the Swedish version a few months ago, after I bought the book (which I still haven't read), and am looking forward to seeing the new one. The Swedish version was very good.

I've watched many movies that are sub-titled, but the wife hasn't. It makes it a bit difficult to watch what is going on when you have to read what is being said.

I have too, my wife pretty much refuses to watch movies with subtitles.

I really want to see this movie but it's almost 3 hrs.
I might have to wait for it to come out on DVD, I don't want to sit in a theater for 3 hrs.

I am currently reading the Book...The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I can't put the book down it is so interesting. I am about two thirds through it. LOL, I bought my wife a Kindle Fire for Christmas and downloaded the book to the Kindle. So far my wife hasn't had a chance to use it.

This is the last I will view this thread until I finish the book as i am afraid someone may divulge the book ending.

I just finished watching The Girl Who Played with Fire. Now I can't wait to see the final movie, but it's too late now to watch it. Having read the reviews on all three of the movies, it appears that the second one (the one I just watched) is the least liked of the three. It's pretty violent as was the first one.

BTW Bobby, the movies that I'm currently watching are not the American versions, though I don't think they have yet to make the second and third. The Swedish versions are available on DVD or on line at Netflix. The American version has yet to set a DVD release date. Still, the first and third Swedish movies are 2 1/2 hours long with the second just over 2 hours.

Just added the other two to my queue. Which order are they supposed to be in?

I finished reading the Dragon Tattoo last night and immeditaly ordered the Fire afterwards and it is been downloaded and is now on the Kindle.

Dragon Tattoo was a great read and i couldn't put the book down. 90% of the time the books are better than the movies. I will view the movie of Dragoon Tattoo and compare.

Muggle, I just finished watching the final film of the trilogy and loved it. I don't know how close any of the films are to the books, but from what I've read in the reviews, one and two are close but three is not so close. I would assume that they wanted an ending that satisfied them. Also, from what I've read, the American version of the Dragon is not nearly as good as the Swedish version. BTW, the second film doesn't take place directly from the end of the first film, but the third film goes right into the end of the second. After reading the trilogy, I highly recommend seeing the Swedish versions. You will already know what to look for, but you'll have to read the subtitles.

I am loving these books and am now into the Girl That Played With Fire. I made a trip to charlotte yesterday and stayed overnight at the Uptown Residence Inn. Walked to VIDA restaurant at Time Warner Arena and had a nice Mexican meal. Froze my tail off walking back to the hotel. must have been 7 or 8 blocks. Only had one beer/Yuengling (free) at the Hotel as I was anxious to get back up to my room to start Reading the Girl that Played with Fire. Read until 11:00 pm and hated to put the book down.

btw, I love my wife's Kindle Fire. It is great for reading and so easy to buy a book. Just select the book and 1-click and it starts downloading to the Kindle.

Buckaroo, I will probably wait until the movies are on DVD and then rent them. We very seldom ever go to the movies.

Muggle, just imagine what it's like to work out in the cold/heat.

The Swedish versions are already out on DVD. The American version of Tattoo has yet to be released on DVD.

I am a third of the way through the Fire and when I finish it I will go right in to the 3rd book. I think I have talked my wife into reading the books. So, if in fact she starts the books it will be quite a while before we watch the movie. Watching the movie first would kinda ruin the reading of the book.

Most people I believe think that way. But I'm kinda different. Books are so much more detailed and so much is missed in a two hour movie. Because of that, I much rather watch the movie first and then when I read the book, I can understand what was going on in the movie better. Doing it the other way will almost always disappoint you because it misses so much that you, the reader, believe is important.

I just finished the second book. It is a shame that larsson died right after handing in the manuscripts for the 3 books. It has been a while since I read 2 books that kept me so interested. I found it difficult to stop reading, especially at bedtime even though I knew I had to get to sleep.

I strongly recommend these books. Larsson did a great job of inventing the character of Lisbeth Salander, what a girl.:beerbang:

tomorrow I will have to buy and download the third book in the Trilogy.

btw, there will probably be a fourth book. larsson was three fourths complete with the manuscript for the fourth book when he died. he also had written synopses for a fifth and sixth book.

Wonder where those books could go. The third film seems to wrap things up, but then again, the lives still move forward. I would of course then go in a different direction, more like into the personal lives...as though it wasn't personal enough. :D
