One note of interest about Pearson

His first title was not in a Ford. In 1966 he won it driving a Dodge for Cotton Owens
His 1968, and 1969 titles were won in the Holman Moody Ford (previously I thought he won them all in the 17).
Many may be aware, but I was surprised to only learn this a few years ago.
I remembered both the Cotton Owens #6, and the Holman Moody #17. But I only rembered David driving the Holman Moody Ford very vaguely. The Owens season, I was just five at the time.

I think this one may be the hardest yet... I'm going to pick Johnson, any way you slice it you can't argue with five straight championships.

I agree totally. And he did it at a time with a much larger field of competitors that could win a given race.

went with pearson for alot of reasons but my best arguement against johnson's five cups is that pearson only raced for the championship in four seasons and won it 3 of those times.

Got to think Pearson would have won alot of championships if he had ran enough races. But he could run any track short or superspeedway, dirt or asphalt as good as anyone.

As a part-time driver DP did some incredible things! I had to talk to a buddy of mine before casting my vote but we agreed that Pearson deserved the vote - at this time.

I had to vote for Johnson. To do what he has accomplished in this day of age when the competition is closer than it ever has been in the history of the sport is incredible to say the least.

As it stands right now, this is in PErsons favor right now because of the win total and win %. But I gave JJ a little benefit of the doubt and believe he will end his career with 80+ wins and 6 championships.

I would like to see JJ go to a different team and have the same sucess that he has had with Hendrick. Pearson was sucessfull every where he went. I think a whole lot of JJ's sucess is his team. Kinda like Gordon, when he and Everham split his career kinda went downhill. And he too has spent much of his career with 1 team.

So..... I guess using that logic Petty can't be considered either seeing as he raced somewhere in the neighborhood of 1184 Cup races for the the same team over 35 years?

I personally would consider Pearson and Bobby Allison to be Greater drivers than Petty, but as I said before Petty had one thing going for him that alot of the other drivers didn't have quite as much and that's his appreciation of his fans. Do you think JJ would have as much sucess driving for lets say Roush or Penske as he has with Rick Hendrick?

Who knows, but I do not think you can hold it against him that he has a ride that any driver out there would leave where they are to go to. Heck, look at Kurt Busch, he has been all but obsessed with getting into a Hendrick car lol

Are you even serious dude? Watch one of his post race interviews from the past two years when he gets on one of his Johnson tirades or my personal favorite, when he actually talks about the "Hendrick Pretty Boys" and how he wasn't "pretty enough" to get hired by Hendrick. It don't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Kurt has been jealous of the Hendrick camp for quite some time. This has been discussed many times on the forum, so I don't see where I need "media proof" for this....

Pearson, JJ should'nt be in the hunt at this point.

Sems like from the results are showing that many others don't agree with you, but I guess since you are not the only one to vote it negates your position.

Sorry..I wasn't asking for proof. I just wanted to know if it was fact or your opinion . I got my answer.
