So the douchebag who wrecked my car told the insurance company he wrecked my car (with intent to disable it) to get out of a threatening situation.

Squirrelldick says we were following him and it was a threatening situation (because he stopped his car in the middle of the road).

The dude is 55 years old or something like that. I hope they suspend his license and throw him under the jail.

Just wondering how close behind this dude you were. If he stopped and you ran into him, then I'd say you were following a bit too close.

No buck, he backed in to my car.

What happened was, my stepdad was driving. He tries to pass someone illegally towing a truck (no brakelights) and driving half the legal speed. The dude throws a block, blocks the road and stops. My stepdad gets out to ask him if he can move and the dude swings a flashlight at him, throws the car in to reverse (because he felt threatened) and backed in to my car. Then he drove off.

The insurance company said he admitted to wrecking my car intentionally. They're just trying to figure out if he was justified in doing it.

So he backed the car he was towing into yours(must have been on a long chain)and then drove off in the car.

Yep. He had the other vehicle on a short chain or something, but it wasn't on a trailer and he didn't have lights on. That's why my stepdad wanted to pass him.

Some people are just real assholes. I know it's not worth getting worked up over, but I am. I'm pissed because my hands are clean in this whole mess and I end up getting the direct screw job.

Sorry your car got wrecked, Andy. The two accidents I've been in were not my fault. The first, my car was totaled and I had some soft tissue injury for which I had to get treatment for quite a while.

At the end of Oct. a young guy tried to make a left turn in front of me and I didn't see him until I got to the intersection. He tried to indicate that I was speeding until the police told him had I been, they'd expect his car knocked across the road. I tried to avoid him and turned to the left a bit, but we connected. I didn't even move his car and I was in my minivan. So.... I've had to wait a couple of mo. for his insurance co. to get it worked out since he kept trying to figure ways it was my fault and not his to no avail. So now my minivan is being fixed and I have a loaner which is really nice.

So I've had 2 accidents where I DID NOTHING WRONG, but I've had to deal with replacing one car & getting one fixed. What are you going to do? Yes, some people are weird, have tempers, etc., but as long as no one is hurt that bad, that's what matters most and accidents happen.

So, Progressive decided to give me the direct screw job by claiming liability on my policy.

I told Progressive I needed a second opinion on the damage total but they cut the check anyways. Repair shop says their quote was way too low. So now, I've gotta come up with over a thousand dollars.

The excuse the insurance company gave was total crap... let's just say this, insurance companies will say ANYTHING to not have to pay.

Andy,
Take your car to the shop that's going to repair it. Have them call the company back and work out a figure. Is Progressive your company? Is that $1,000+ part of your deductible?

99.9% of the time when the front of your car contacts the rear of another you do have some liability.
If you have coll coverage with another company call them in, then the two companies get into determining liabilty.

Was a police report of any type filed? If they cut a check that's 1,000 bucks short I'm sure the damage is over the threshold requiring a PR and I'd really be asking the chief for a copy.

Read the thread SST. My hands are clean in this.

And I'm the one who gets the direct screw job (as usual).

Andy,
Your post lacks the details needed. Rant and rave all you want that "your hands are clean", hope it makes you sleep better at night. I offered suggestions but WTH do I know. I only worked in the claims field for almost 20 years
But your hands are clean, don't take any advice.

btw, we used to love guys like you, self appointed Perry Mason's. :beerbang:

Yeah, your sarcasm helps a whole lot. I specifically posted in the thread that someone backed up in to my car and you post "99.9% of the time when the front of your car contacts the rear of another you do have some liability.". This is the .1% right here.

Thanks for showing me how the insurance companies operate by telling me that this is, somehow, MY fault.

Donkey backed in to my car. Donkey admits it. Common sense: Donkey's policy pays it. But he also has Progressive and it's cheaper for Progressive to file my claim under my policy and his claim on his policy. The insurance companies are their to protect their bottom line.

LOL, what an ass of a thing to say.

Bottom line, sounds like you've got the wrong insurance company. And you never did answer his questions.

If I wanted to add sarcasm to my previous post I would have used one of these " :sarcasm: "

I'm sorry but from what you've written your story doesn't add up.

That's how ins co. make their money, screwing over their customers.

Call your state Insurance dept if you feel you were treated unfairly. Oh, they love hearing from self appointed Perry Masons too.

Now that's :sarcasm: :)

Progressive is my insurance company, $1000 is my deductable (but they underestimate the damage and it's gonna cost more).

Yes, a police report was filed, I'm waiting on a copy now.

Poor Andy, everyone is out to screw him from his work, to the insurance companies and now his friends on this forum. Andy,if wasn't for the lousy weather, you wouldn't have any problems.
