Here kitty, kitty, kitty
Went to the movies this afternoon and the wife and I watched The Help. I finally agreed to go see this movie after the wife nagged me. It was going to be this movie, or the 3D shark movie. The Help won out. Yes, it's a chick flick, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is one scene in which the mother of one of the snobby girls comes out of a party and tells her daughter that she will always remember two things. This is a very funny moment in the movie and you'll have to go see the movie to see what that was. There were times when I wished that I could have reached out and grabbed some of those women and slapped them silly.
The movie is about a young, white girl socialite from Mississippi who decides to write a book about how black women feel about working for white families during the violent 60s. My wife had a black maid during that time and told me that her family didn't experience anything like the movie, but that was in NC. As for myself, I grew up in rural Oklahoma and didn't see a black person until my early teens so I didn't have anything to compare the movie with.
I recommend this movie to everyone. You'll cry, you'll laugh and you'll just plain enjoy the movie.
