The Inevitable Super Bowl Prediction Thread

Yes, ladies and gentlemen and pbunch :p it's here. Time to make your fearless prognostications about the most celebrated event in American sports. Seeing as most everyone knows where my allegiance lies, I'll be the first to stick my neck out....sort of.

The way I see it, we have some fairly well established facts this year. FACT: Oakland has probably the most well-balanced offense in the NFL. FACT: Tampa has a defense that can and regularly does take over games. FACT: This should be one heck of a game.

I see two possible scenarios. One, Tampa gets overwhelmed, gets behind early, has to panic and become one-dimensional trying to play catch up, and by halftime....game over. Oakland 28, Tampa 6.

OR....They don't get overwhelmed. In this case, it's gonna be one for the ages. Bearing in mind that Tampa gave up 7 points in 52 seconds, and then 3 points in 59:08, to Philly and one of the best QBs in the game today, I rather think that a lot of people could be seeing a lot more of Warren Sapp in the off-season than they want to. Throw in that Gruden kinda knows that Raider team. Tampa has proven that they can play with anyone, and last week should have been enough to quiet some of the critics. But it won't. Oakland should and will be favored to win. Just like we like it.

TWF's prediction:

Tampa 24
Oakland 17

I have no idea. TN lost and threw me off, Oakland is the fav by 4 points so if I were a betting man I would bet on Oakland covering the spread.

I will just say the Radiers since they are my brothers favortie team.

If I want my home to be tolerable for the next couple of weeks I would have to say that Tampa is going to pull one more off. And keep my fingers crossed that they have it in them.

My prediction is Oakland has it. And since Oakland is his 2nd favorite team it may be somewhat tolerable. I think I may find a nice little hole to crawl in on Sunday. Hopefully the weather will be nice and I can be outside. lol:p

I think Tampa will win but i'll be rootin for the the Raiders.

How about the class act that is Gruden? Giving credit to Dungy right after his NFC title win.

Hard to find a team to root against in this super bowl, class acts all around.

Well...with Sapp as the obvious exception. ;)

Oh...and my heart is pulling for the workhorses...Gannon, Romanowski, Rice, Brown et al.

But my brain is pulling for the brute force and raw talent of Sapp, Rice, Brooks. Going to be one hell of a gawddamn game, that's all I know.

Ain't that the truth! I haven't made up my mind who to root for just yet. Mind says Bucs, but heart says Raiders.:)

Sapp's an exception to the class act crowd, but Romo's not? Interesting.

I think tampa will win but Im pulling for the raiders just because I would like to see rice get another SB win before he retires.

Romo may be gruff, but I don't see him dancing around the field singing rap songs and threatening coaches.

Ahh, the old perception thing rears its ugly head again. If memory serves, Sapp was initially approached by the coach of the Packers, was he not? Don't want none, don't start none, and there won't BE none.

As to Romo, I think his reputation speaks for itself.

I think the 70 something year old coach was upset that his player might be dying in an ambulance...donno...it's a stretch I know.

Romo isn't a Jerry Rice by any means...but seriously...he's no Sapp either.

The head coach of the Green Bay Packers is 70 something? Wow...somebody better tell him, he don't look it to me.

I wholeheartedly agree...Romo ain't no Warren Sapp. Not by a loooooooooong shot. He's a head hunter, that statement being well documented out of his own mouth. Sapp's a mouthy obnoxious punk who happens to be a helluva football player and backs up his boasts more often than not. Romo's made so many racial slurs it's pathetic. Sapp ain't been publicized with one yet. So no, Romo ain't no Warren Sapp...not even on his best days. Thanks for making the argument for me, dude...I owe ya one.

No one's saying Sapp isn't a great player.

I thought you started a thread a few days ago about some basketball player making racist statements...and how if a white athlete were to ever say anything like that he would be banned from the league.

Is Romo and exception? ;)

Seriously, I didn't know he said anything of the sort...and if he has then I'm wrong straight across the board on this one.

If memory serves, yes he made numerous comments while a member of the Broncos. Comments leading to his departure from that team. If memory serves...if not, then I'm the one off his rocker.

Stupid Eagles missed the superbowl again... I was hoping that they'd actually get to go this year. They'd probably have lost there, but they'd be one step closer. Every year they have been getting better, but they fell short.

Just didn't want to jump on the bandwagon with everyone else picking the Bucs and Radiers.....I've always pulled for the underdogs, that's why I've been a Dallas fan for so many years...:D

Seriously though, I think it will be a close game and go down to the wire.

I was the lone person picking the Titans...

It's a game of momumental proportions.

The Titans were just "too beat up"..I don't see how McNair, George, and Kearse played like they did.

Players that actually have some heart about the game.

Warriors for sure.

I don't know what the hell I'm going to do after this Sunday, cuz I sure as hell ain't watching basketball.

Basketball? What's that?

Oh, that's the game where.....

Naaaaa, I won't go there.

Less than a month from Daytona dude!!!!
