So, we are at the time of the year were it seems that every single store has someone standing outside their exits alongside their kettle, bell in hand. How much is enough? How many times is enough? We give to these people but we don't give to all of them. What do you do? Do you give to them every time you walk out of every store? I feel guilty as heck every time I walk by one of these people without throwing something in their receptacle. I can't give to everyone. Is it just me? Am I a bad guy?

WWJD? what would Jeff do?

Pretty sure you arent a bad guy .......................... you seem to posses feelings that bad people dont have IMO

I'm not wealthy but a few bucks a day isn't going to hurt me. I will go out of my way to give to Sal's Army, the Salvation Army. How many stores do you hit a day?
My wife always puts a can or two in the bins each time she grocery shops to help those who can't afford a holiday dinner.

I shop for my family and I shop for my father. Basically I hit one or more stores a few times a week. Sometimes three or more stores a day. Those dollars add up.

I drop a little change in going one way.

I will give once per day, but only once.

I just wish them a merry Christmas and keep walking. I do my part for those less fortunate in other ways, 12 months of the year.

I help local folks out throughout the year. I've learned to discern the needy from the druggies. I went in the store last week and a guy was out front with a sign that read, "I'm Hungry." When I left the store, I handed him a whole, cooked chicken. I give to the S.A. kettles around Christmas, also. Whatever change I have in my pocket is given.

I just say "Hello" and go on my way. I'm not a bad person...I just prefer to help people directly. For example, this year, I took it to Craigslist and came across someone looking for help to get some presents under the tree for her three kids. So I went out and bought a few gifts for each kid. I just like seeing the joy on people's face and if I were to donate a quarter or dollar into a small bucket, I'd never know whether it helped anyone or whether it was appreciated.

If you know you help out from to time, then there is absolutely NO reason to feel guilty about passing them by without donating anything.
