TALLADEGA, Ala. — After passing her superspeedway test with a solid 11th-place finish in yesterday's ARCA Series Food World 300, Nashville's Deborah Renshaw set her sights on a bigger target.
She said plans have been finalized for her NASCAR Busch Series debut Oct. 19 at Memphis Motorsports Park, in preparation for a full-time Busch ride next year.
Renshaw, 25, will become just the third woman in history to run full-time in NASCAR's second-tier series, following Patty Moise and Shawna Robinson.
Despite the big news, Renshaw was less than pleased at the end of yesterday's race, won by Keith Segars. Renshaw was running seventh when Tina Gordon, the other female driver in the race, began battling her for position. The side-by-side dicing shoved Renshaw back to 11th and Gordon to 12th.
''Tina was racing like this was a short track instead of Talladega,'' Renshaw said. ''I was very disappointed in those last few laps.''
Renshaw has one more ARCA race this season, next Saturday at Charlotte in the series finale, before turning her attention full-time to her Busch debut with Team Bristol Motorsports.
comments:
Tina took Kasey Kahne out by putting him in the wall coming out of a corner. Then she started bumping Deb. I think Tina can race, but she made some bonehead moves yesterday and ruined her and Deborah's chances for a top ten.
