During NASCAR's unprecedented growth in the early 2000's, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

It seemed everyone and their mother were fans.

Fox was cutting away to commercial break with hip-hop music. ( Nothing against this genre. There's a time and place for it. Just not during my NASCAR race. Thank you very much.)

Britney Spears was leading the charge for the starting of engines.

Caviar and wine were being served up in the skyboxes.

......and so on, and so on.

Well, what goes around, comes around. Judging from what I saw this past February at Phoenix International Raceway, it looks like real NASCAR fans have been making a steady reemergence.

All is well, people. All is well.

Reminds me of the inaugural race at Chicagoland Speedway in 2001. Tropicana 400....Watched a filty/smelly dirtbag, who was drunk, purchase a six-pack of beer for $36.00....LOL... We crossed paths with him a few hours latter.. he still had 3 beers on the can holder, and the police were roughing him up for acting like a douch....

It was obvious these folks dressed this way purposely to get attention and double takes. And they did. The guy in the cowboy hat even went so far as to blacken one of his teeth.

They were just having fun playing out the NASCAR fan stereotype. I hope they return in November to provide more video.
