the most with the least

have you ever heard someone say "Man, he sure can do a lot with a little"? Well, in NASCAR, who do you think does the most with the least?

Obviously these would be drivers who can perform the best without the best equipment.

A year ago, I would have said Tony Raines, but since he hasn't really been in cup much, I don't see much of him. I guess Ashton Lews Jr. has done fairly well with an unsponsored car, but that doesn't neccesarily mean his equipment is bad.

Anyone have any candidates for the good driving/bad car award? Maybe we could take nominations, make "speeches" in their favor, and then have a poll after a few days.

In all honesty, I say either Ricky Rudd or Ken Schrader, depending on where one's personal "cutoff" point is for the *not much* level.

I agree with the Tony Raines pick.. He did really well last year in that unsponsored and underfunded car. It is a shame he was not able to secure more this year.

Not trying to satrt anything here so no one get offended BUT what exactly has Schrader done since he started driving for BAM?? I mean he never really runs up front and does he have any "real" notable finshes consistantly??

I was just curious why you all chose him.

I picked him because he is a good driver, but has been stuck with crap to drive with since he left the 25 car.

You answered your own question: He drives for BAM.

Kenny Schrader!!!!! If he had Mikey's ride, it would be Kenny, not Mikey
getting the better finishes. And Kenny could prolly do better than Mikey!!!!!

Gooooooooooooo Kenny!!!!! He needs a ride that doesn't go "BAM". !! LOL

What has he done? He's managed to qualify their crap for every race this season, lead some laps, and get a couple of top ten finishes. Put somebody else in that car and see what they would do. Either the same or worse.

I think Shrader does well for his age and situation. I wonder how a "least with the most" thread would go over? Only seems fair.

Kenny Schrader without doubt. Just getting that ride in any field requires more skill than half the guys have.

And---nobody scream---but Robby Gordon does better than I would have expected given his bargain basement RCR junk. He could have been Tony Stewart in a Yates or Gibbs car.

I won't scream 97forever, in fact I'll agree.
Look what he's done with a new startup Busch team.

I'll agree and not go into the whole "Robby is the best" thing. I will say this about Schrader. He has been in the Cup series for a LONG time without a lot of results. This can mean a few things:
1.) He's been stuck in crap equipment and is great
2.) He's been in decent equipment and has performed moderately
3.) or he's been in good equipment and has performed terribly

I think all of these have been true at one time or another. One of the reaons he's been around for so long is because of his demeanor and personality. That says a lot about a driver, I think. As for my horse, Tony Raines, I only have the one year to go on, so I'm going to stick with him. Kenny S. is a great guy, but the results he's turning out even in a BS car really aren't that impressive.

I tend to agree with #2. Starting last sunday doesn't help his case much.
