The musically inclined

How many people here play an instrument(s) of some sort, and if so, how good are you at it? I play trumpet in the school jazz band, and was recently excepted into next year's Rock Ensemble class on guitar. This year, I also played in Senior Band at concerts on the baritone horn (though I don't take the class). Who else is musically gifted?

I "play" the drums every now and that...have a smallish kit at a buddy's house in his garage. He's got a guit and a nice amp so sometimes we jam for a little.

It's really just a reason to drink massive amounts of beer.

I have no musical talent whatsoever. I can't even program my CD player. I have always had admiration for those who can play.

I am a singer. Right now I sing soprano in college. But I can sing anything from Soprano to tenor. I have been singing for a long time ever since I was in elementry school. I have been in voice lessons for 8 years. Also I have been in many choirs. I have also been to state solo compition and have gotten 1st each time.

I was in Band in Middle and High school! I played the Clarinet in 6th grade then moved the the Bass Clarinet from 7th to 11th grade. I then Marched in the summer marching band( krystle did as well in the color gaurd) I played the Clarinet again in the marching band. My senior year they needed Calrinets in the Concert band so I played that all year long. I also joined the Summer Jazz and Concert band the summer after i graduated ( Marching program was lost  )
During my whole HS time I played at all the home football and basket ball games.
I was not very good at the Bass Clarinet and was horrible when i started to play the clarinet in the summer after 11th grade. But i got the hang of it by the state fair championships (11th place with under 25 marchers!!)and was pretty good.
I have not picked up the clarinet since i graduated

I play the guitar. Have played for 19 years. Have been teaching for several years for extra income. I'm ok I guess. Better than most, I guess, but not nearly as good as some. I played bass guitar for a few years before I started playing 6-string. I still teach some bass. I've sang some at weddings, in choir, and at a few clubs.

Hey Crystal, I also sing.First and second seprano.competed at local university w/my highschool.

I am musically inclined.I play the Clarinet, and Keyboard by ear to just about anything.Guess I need to learn my notes.

I started playing bass guitar at the begining of last summer, and I play about an hour every day :D

I only sing. can sing soprano 1 and 2 and alto. my graduation song auditions are tuesday i am so worried, theres a lot of talent out there dont really know where i am in the midst

Keep your head up and you'll do fine.Remember nothing sweet before you sing.Makes you hoarse.Water only.

goodluck.

I play one helluva air guitar. I have jammed with the best.....Angus Young, Kirk form Metallica, the ZZ Top dudes, even some old Def Leppard. I once even hit the air keyboard with Van Halen during Jump once.

I even grabbed an air trumpet during a wedding....Celebration by Cool and the Gang....

That was a rough night..... B)

I hate to sing. Boring. I played clarinet for 5 years but that got boring too.

I played the clarinet for years and then quit. I can still play everything from Grandma Got Run Over by A Reindeer to the Star Wars Theme Song. And because I can play the clarinet, I can play the recorder. And if that doesn't impress people, nothing will. You just pull out that plastic recorder, play a few verses of Aura Lee or She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain, and you have yourselves a party. So pretty much none of my musical ability will ever come in handy.

But good luck to all those pursuing music. It really takes a lot of work and talent. And it sounds like some people here have the talent and the ambition.

I used to pick around at a mountain dulcimer, but haven't held one in a long time. Would love to learn mandolin someday.

I am actually going to minor in vocal music so I will be in college longer since my major is Art Education.

I play the clarinet but i mostly play the bassoon! i love that thing.. i actually have a private lesson tomorrow and it gets me out of my japanese class! good times ;)

The bassoon, I think, is probably one of the neatest sounding instruments.

I totally agree 66! the only one that i think sounds as cool is the oboe.. but since my fingers are WAY to big to play it i stick with the bassoon.. and some day the contra bassoon :bounce:

I used to play the violin, I haven't played in a couple years. I took some piano lessons when I was younger, hated it. I was in choir in High School. But I really rather listen to music than play or sing.
My daughter has a beautiful voice, I would love to get her some lessons, I just can't seem to find any voice instructors around here.

Good Luck GhettoZoe, today at auditions, hey btw did you ever find a prom dress?

I played the violin. I think I would have enjoyed playing fiddle more.
