Spent 3 hours yesterday at the guru's place, trying to get all my peripherals loaded --- and trying to get me up to speed on all the features.

Talk about brain overload.

Finally got it all hooked up this AM. Afraid to push any buttons. LOL

Now, I have to get the work started on the satellite hookup.

generally if you can't figure something out, google can. otherwise i probably know it.

Change your desktop settings from XP to traditional. That may help.

One has to change with the ages. I supposed that one day we'll all be saying that this Vista really was the only way to go. But right now, I'm very comfortable with my XP. Actually, I made it so much like the old Win 98 that there isn't much difference. I still run my downstairs PC on Win 98.

I suppose one of these days we will be saying, man remember when that windows vista come out and now that is a thing of the past. LOL

I got a new computer 3 months ago, run Vista on it and i'll tell you all those adds that show Apple against Microsoft just don't do Vista justice. i think it is awesome i never have any problems and now i have cable internet so it is super fast.

my friend's dad works in the industry and says not to get vista for a good year and a half or so.

And i didnt like XP much either, back then both home computers were 98 and i only used XP at school.

not trying to push linux on anyone but i like it so much i said bye-bye to windows for good. i do keep xp on my wife's machine so she can play her arcade games.

two very good releases:
PCLinuxOS 2007
SimplyMEPIS

if you're afraid of screwing up xp don't be. linux will recognize your xp installation and make a dual boot setup in GRUB. linux has progressed so far in the last couple of years that it is actually easier to install and run (for me) than windows.
