Pretty cool article about Red Farmer linked below. I have met Red a dozen or more times, and remember him from the old BIR track when I was just a kid and a relative of mine actually managed the track at the time.

Keep in mind as you read the article the old guy is 80 freaking years old now...as a plus, he does offer a little insight on Tony Stewart, btw.

At a time when most men his age are on the golf course or at the doctor's office, 80-year-old Red Farmer can still be found in his shop in Hueytown, Ala., preparing his car for the next race. After 64 years -- and an estimated 700 to 900 victories -- Farmer has no interest in "retirement."

Farmer made his Cup debut in 1953, finishing 45th in a Hudson Hornet on the famed Daytona beach and road course. And this weekend, he'll climb into his late-model car at Talladega Short Track and race against drivers whose fathers may not have been born when he made his final Cup start in 1975.

It's no public relations stunt. Farmer has recorded 16 top-10 finishes during a 22-race stretch.[/

I never met him but I have seen several interviews with him. He's the Real Deal, no doubt!

Plus, he's the only driver who can still call Morgan Shepard, "Sonny Boy"!

Sheesh 97, all this time I thought you were a Kurt Bush fan. Rock on Red.

I sort of 'adopted' Kurt as my driver ......mainly because I liked the number. In fact, I liked Chad Little before Kurt. The whole 97 thing, I reckon, lol
