Richie Evans #61 Modified The Orange Crate
Man this guy could fly. In 1979 he had 60 starts---recorded 54 to 5's---37 were victories. Talk about a season. Died in 1985 during practice at Martinsville.
Richie had a Sportsman car (camero) that he drove at Daytona. DW said that he was behind Richie during a restart. Doing about 120 mph, Richie nailed the gas, laid down two black strips, and he was gone.
The Northern Modified fans lost a great competitor many years ago.
